I'm really fond of contra's videos.

I've thought for a while that we need a new economic system for the future ahead of us, Automation is going to completely annihilate people once self-driving semis drive our unemployment rate from 10% upwards to 30%.

The only solution people have for my fears on this issue is that somehow those jobs will be replaced with better tech-based skills. As if truck drivers can suddenly pick up a few comp sci degrees overnight.

I don't know if going to a complete communist system is possible or even a good idea, but I think everyone's basic needs should be met.
If you think people should be forced to work if able, sure, but they should at least have serviceable housing, food, and medical care in return.
I don''t know how anyone can accept a system where you can work multiple jobs and not get those things.

I dont think anybody really wants a full on Communist government. Its more that we need a compromise that takes the good ideas from Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, and blend it together to create a government system that has the least faults possible. Cause throughout history, doing each of these governments at 100% usually doesn't pan out. Even Lenin had to realize full on Communism was impossible as an viable economic model. Following him creating the New Economic Policy, which was a mixture of Communist economics and Free-market policies.
