• Does Anyone Have Experience with Language Immersion Programs?

Particularly when it comes to German/Germany. I'm specifically looking for a program where I stay with a family/group for the duration of the visit. You don't have to have experience with only German or Germany related programs but just in general what's the type of thing I should be looking for to get the most out of it? (Is there a better style of immersion for instance)
There will definitely be some immersion classes that you'll be able to find, where you'll go there for a class like you would a normal class, just taught using the immersion method. Just google the place you'll be staying with "immersion class" and you should find a university or language school that offers something. Combining this with a host family would be totally doable, and they don't usually require you to have any familiarity with the language at first. For the people it works for, it works really well. Assuming you're one of those people, immersion is more or less the most efficient way to learn a language. They're also good for people who are not good with (or familiar with) formal grammar, as the point of immersion is that you just subconsciously understand the target language, the way an L1 speaker does. While a good course will only move as fast as the class is comfortable with, it will trust you to be confident and creative with your uses of it, though a good teacher will not strain you.
