China to slap tariffs on 128 U.S. goods
"China is moving forward with its plan to counter President Donald Trump's new tariffs on steel and aluminum, levying duties that will take effect Monday on more than $3 billion in U.S. exports to the country.
In a statement Sunday, the Chinese government said it would impose the retaliatory tariffs on 128 products, according to an informal translation.
China will impose a 15 percent tariff increase on goods including American fruit and nuts and add a 25 percent tariff on pork, recycled aluminum and other goods, the government said.
...
The move is expected to lead to escalating tensions between the two large trading nations, leading many to worry that American farmers will be casualties in a tit-for-tat trade war.
...
While the Trump administration has said the steel and aluminum tariffs are necessary to protect national security, Beijing rejected that argument in its statement and said they ran afoul of WTO rules."
o boy here we go
No it's cool, I didn't want to make any money from investing anyhow.
At this rate I'm going to lose everything.
I think that the entire reason this is happening is that Trump wants to fuck America up a whole bunch in a cathartic, parting gift way because he knows he's gonna be impeached and removed from office soon.
It would fit with his planet-sized ego and his spoiled bastard child demeanor that he would be the type to get kicked out of a store then knock a bunch of shit off the shelves and slam the door shut on the way out.
I foresee dark times ahead, folks. Let's hope that I'm wrong on that.
"Trade wars are easy to win" - Trump, 2018
I'm getting really tired of winning so much.
Somehow I doubt ol' Cheetohead is capable of thinking that far ahead.
Technology sector is in a tumble right now.
That pork tariff will hit the Carolinas hard, Smithfield just got bought by the Chinese to feed their pork appetite. Hopefully there'll be a silver lining come election day.
Lets start a trade war with the world's largest exporter of raw materials and goods.
*20 mins later*
Oh fuck oh fuck we gonna be poor.
Hopefully this will wake up rural America when their profits start collapsing about how garbage Trump actually is and they don't just naively go "But the dems ", it's an absolute travesty for our capitalist economy.
I know how you feel. I just recently started investing and I've lost about 15% of my investment already.
Im telling you now, we are heading head first into another 08 crash. If i was you id pull my investments asap, the reason i can tell we are heading there is because the housing market around me is doing the same shit it did in 07 with house prices exploding and loans being tossed like candy. Even the builders see it but dont care, just like in 07.
I only put about $400 in (all I could/can afford for now), and I lost $18 and change at some point, so not quite as awful, but then again my chosen "strategy" is supposed to be more conservative than risky. :/
I was invested in some Asian Index Fund before I changed jobs. Wonder how this is gonna play out the next 3* years.
So Trump's protectionist policies are only accomplishing the exact opposite of their stated goal? Wow, nobody could have possibly seen that coming!
I'm starting to get a little suspicious. It's only been a few weeks and these things always happen (although not this drastically) when major legislation is passed or scandals such as Facebook happen. I'm going for more of a long term investment so I am not too worried if I'm down for a few years. Lets just hope its a market shock and not the beginning of the end.
Sometimes I wonder if the CS degree I'm working for will even be worth anything by the time this is all over with.
I earned an associates degree before I got cold feet because of how the world is.
Switch to medical, it'll always have a use. I start as a pharmacist at the end of the month, I'll give you a glowing professional reference
So it Begins.
Pulling your investments now is a guaranteed way to lose money, even if the markets do crash in the near future.
It's far better to keep saving, and if you can afford to do so, invest a little extra in things once they become a bargain.
If you're getting into trading I recommend following Peter Brandt. However, do not trade based on other people's charts, opinions, etc., stick with your strategy.

I guess that explains why GV bacon is fucking 8 bucks a pack and Wright Brand is 10/pack.
"Trade wars are actually hard and complicated to win. Very hard stuff." -Trump, 2019
"Nobody told me waging a trade war with our nation's biggest trading partners was going to be this hard!" - Trump prob'ly
Yep but he's totally still an economic genius you guys, never mind the fact that his ex Goldman Sachs CEO financial adviser resigned because his policies were just indefensibly retarded. This country is going to hell in a bucket.

Who could have seen this coming??
So will CS lol, and medical jobs are quite over-hyped, frankly.
Mind you, they're still great if it's your passion, but I wouldn't recommend someone to just pick up a medical career due to the education required, work hours, mental health issues, etc..
Even if America plunged into a depression or something that won't necessarily change what skills are useful in the long-term.
And if you really want, you basically have a ticket to any other country in the world with a CS degree.
Wait what the fuck they can put tariffs on people too? Holy shit oh fuck oh fuck we're gonna be poor - Donald Trump, 03/04/2018
to be fair, if you have stocks, this is the time to sell the best, even if to diversify. my coworker took some questionable advice to only invest in our company stock and its been falling for some time now.

This is in response to what was posted in the OP, if I'm understanding correctly.
Time to sell everyone.
