So GameInformer got to play Spider Man and they made a 14 page article that they are releasing tomorrow (April 4th). They are also teasing that they know the release date.
i hope the city is as accurate as it is in the division, all of this looks pretty awesome so far
Insomniac, don't disappoint me
I'm definitely confident that Insomniac can pull off what Treyarch did for Spider-Man 2. Sunset Overdrive had a lot of things you could argue about, but the level design and flow was one of the least-arguable features.
A painfully mediocre game only truly remembered for one specific part while everything else was actually just average or tedious ?
I have really high hopes for this game, but they keep doing this weird thing with the swinging, where he starts to move forward like he is already in a swing before he even shoots out his web.
Take a look at the first swing in this video, he starts accelerating forward right as the animation of him about to shoot his web begins. That's the only thing that seems really off to me.
holy fuck did anyone see that truck stopping animation without the background moving at 0:52
Nah probably more "regarded as the height of the series and closest to letting you feel like you're Spider-Man by many"
Personally I prefer Spider-Man (2000) or Spider-Man (2002) but it's pretty obvious what he was going for with that statement.
Scuse me? Everything about Spiderman 2 was dope. I had so much fun beating up baddies and throwing their ragdolls around
I am annoyed by these over confident developer interviews before the game is even released. Release a GOTY worthy game first, THEN you can have these smug ass interviews about its development.
Every single time developers are interviewed before release it always ends up being this average 6/10 piece of crap, it's almost like a superstition.
Yeah I also thought so when I first played it but after trying it again recently and with the nostalgia goggles off, that game was actually really fucking mediocre on most aspects and was practically entirely carried by the swinging being above the rest.
I'm kinda cautious about this, in Spiderman 2, web slinging was a skill that you started off clunky and got better at when you got the hang of how the physics worked, but once you understood it, the physics were pretty consistent. This looks like there's a bunch of context buttons to just warp to a certain speed and direction that violates the momentum or lack thereof that you just had.
Ah, I see you played the PC version.
I remember playing this as a kid and had fond memories of it, and I tried finding it again some years ago and I thought it just didn't exist, like it was some fever dream, and I realise that the spider-man 2 has two different versions :V
I really liked Ultimate Spiderman, the comic artstyle was nice, Venom was cool, and the story was canon to the point that they actually had to put it in the actual comics at some point.
In any case, this looks wonderful, and the city feels alive, which was my biggest issue with the previous games
Why was that released again? Was it too difficult to port to PC or something? Remember seeing commercials for Spider-Man 2 and being excited, and I got that mess instead
I love how this looks, I like the emphasis on not just swinging, but environmental interaction as well. My only concern, as said above, is that it seems like the momentum for a swing or a jump starts before the swing or jump itself.
I guess this'll be the central thread for GIs coverage

batman arkham style combat is a plague on video games
Apparently costumes have unique abilities, Spider_Punk has an AoE Guitar attack
If this is actually good I might finally buy a PS4.
On the topic of costumes though the game will disappoint me, I guarantee it. I'll always hold it against the original Spider-Man game which has (imo) the perfect selection.
Hoo boy I'm hoping this is good, need to expand my PS4 library. Plus more spidey games that are actually good is a welcome addition.
Every time they show the webswinging in this game it just looks so abrupt compared to Spiderman 2
Like all of his momentum is taken away before he even shoots his web what
30 FPS on both Base/Pro
I know this is to be expected but it still pisses me off when the game's a fucking exclusive.
More footage with GIs hand-on experience

This combat looks fucking beautiful. Way less brawl-y than Arkham

My favorite thing about Spider-Man 2 was kicking a guy straight down to the ground from over 30 feet in the air.
Not piledriving a guy off the top of the empire state.
Shameful.
I used to jump off the empire state building and die just for fun. That game was a masterpiece.
