Tesla Model 3 is now officially the best-selling electric car in the US

With Tesla confirming its first quarter production and delivery results today, the company also confirmed that the Model 3 is now officially the best-selling electric car in the US.
Unfortunately, Tesla doesn’t break down its delivery results per quarter, but since the Model 3 is currently only available in the US, we can safely assume that all the deliveries happened in America.
Tesla confirmed 8,180 Model 3 vehicles delivered during the first quarter 2018.
That’s almost twice as many as the next best-selling all-electric car in the US, GM’s Chevy Bolt EV deliveries, which reached 3,375 units over the same period, as we reported earlier today.
The Bolt EV is officially the next best-selling all-electric car in the US, but the Model S and Model X are likely second and third, which would mean Tesla most likely has the 3 best-selling electric car models in the US.
...
If you want to add plug-in hybrids into the mix, Model 3 even beats the Toyota Prius Prime, which is currently the best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle in the US with 6,468 units during the first 3 months of the year.

Today, Tesla released its first quarter 2018 production and delivery numbers – unsurprisingly confirming a record production of 34,494 vehicles thanks to an increase in Model 3 production, which accounted for about 10,000 of those vehicles.
The automaker says that they produced a mix of 24,728 Model S and Model X vehicles and 9,766 Model 3 vehicles during the first 3 months of the year.
As for the Model 3 production rate exiting the quarter, Tesla says that they produced 2,020 Model 3 vehicles in the past seven days – as confirmed in an email from Elon Musk that we reported on yesterday.

I'm glad this is the case. The Model 3 opens up the opportunity for people in the market for new cars at below-luxury prices to switch to an EV, and it's nice to see people are making that switch.
I'm glad that tesla is out there proving the market for electric vehicles... maybe someday soon we will have more option than just them that arent laughably expensive and/or ugly
I drive like 500mi a week and have seen exactly 0 in orlando
8000 units isn't a drop in the bucket compared to the 300 million people in the US. I've only seen a tesla once in my life and never again.
Haha, come to Norway. I see 4-5 teslas every single day just walking to college
Eh, just the other day there was a Model X in front of me and I'm only in suburban NJ. Granted, that's only the second Tesla I've ever seen in person; the other was when I was at a farmer's market a few years ago and there was a Model S in the parking lot.
I'm in Texas and I see Model Ssssss all the time. Haven't seen a Model 3 yet.
Hell even here in Australia I see the occaisonal model s or model X in suburbia. And their pricing here is incredibly high.
Tons of Model S and X in the Houston area.
I see the same dozen or so of Model S in the south NJ region.
yet to see a 3 I think.
Vast majority of deliveries went to people in California. I've only heard of a few in other states so far. So it's unlikely you will see them in other states for a few more weeks.
Here in south florida I see probably one a day. Kind of odd since 300 days a year you need AC. But I guess that's less energy than heat.
I've seen a number of them around Pasadena since about a month ago.
I see one model S and one Model X while going to work every so often.
Would rather it be two Model S because the X is fucken hideous. Proportions look so bad in person compared to the pictures.
Saw one of GM's old EVs years back, it was kinda surreal, like a Bigfoot sighting: Just a glimpse and then you never see it again.
most model 3's are selling for above 40K because they are choosing the larger battery.
I see a lot of hybrids and EVs, including Teslas, but I work at a nuclear power plant, so the people who work at units 1 and 2 actually have charging spots where they can charge all day.
I live in freakin' South Carolina and have seen tons of Model S and X Tesla vehicles, but only 1-2 Model 3s, ever.
Damn do I want one though, since my 2006 Impala's holding together well, but Chevys from that timeframe aren't always the most reliable.
I saw at least two just yesterday, both X's. I see them almost every day. Rich area, yo.
I live in California and I see at least two a day, where they're popular they are popular.
There's a metric shit ton of them in Vancouver.
They are everywhere.
Surprised you've seen any Model 3 yet.
I've seen exactly one, despite seeing dozens or hundreds of S's and quite a few X's.
It may be the fastest selling electric car in the US, but certainly not the fastest delivering. What's taking so long?
Market saturation takes awhile.
But I live near a Supercharger (only one in the immediate area) and I see tons of S's and X's but only the one 3 so far, and this is the middle of California in rich-ass wine country.
Eh, there's a lot of rich and/or retired folks who move into my state for the cheap taxes and the (often, but not always) low cost of housing here, in addition to the warmer weather.
That and Charleston/Columbia/Greenville are kinda growing as cities so more well-to-do folks and younger people get extra-concentrated there compared to anywhere else, so I see Teslas and other fancy cars a lot there.
They've been delivering the Model S since 2012, this is the first quarter they have actually delivered the Model 3 in mass (see graph in OP).
yeah theres a bunch of teslas in the NY area now I see atleast 1 everyday lol
That's a fair point.
