One killed as fire erupts at Moscow children's mall, hundreds evacuated
A fire has broken out at a children’s shopping mall in northeastern Moscow, reportedly killing at least one person, two weeks after 64 people were killed in a mall fire in Siberia.
Around 600 visitors were evacuated from the “Perseus for Kids” shopping center after a fire ripped through the top floor of the four-story building, the RIA Novosti news agency reported on Wednesday.
“The victim, who has been evacuated from a burning building, died in an ambulance. He could not be saved,” the state-run TASS news agency cited an unnamed ambulance service official as saying.
This is the second Russian mall that's had a fire in two weeks, what is going on over there?
It seems so strange this happening just two weeks later, and now in a mall with children's stores no less
Regardless I hope there is no further loss of life, and that the evacuation wasn't a total shitshow like the previous incident...
could be negligence due to corruption - the local officials would probably have the funds to keep things up and running, but that money goes to... elsewhere, and so places are falling apart and fire safety goes out the window.
i heard that this was the case with the previous incident, although my only source on that is a single russian who read it from the local media, so don't take my word for it
of course it's possible that it's an "accident" that suddenly and conveniently gets pinned on [state enemy X], but i want to believe that to be unlikely this time
I said it before (in previous thread) and I will say it again:
The 0 giving shit attitude in Russia/Ukraine is fucking stupid, too bad nothing will be changed/done about it.
I surely can't think of anything other than accidental or one crazed arson, even if 2 happen at the same time.
As stated above to the possibility of an "accident", any politician anywhere in the world that burns kids in shopping malls for political benefit needs to be made to eat uranium.
Although as I said I doubt this very much.
Expect this to be given better care than the mall in Kemerovo. Since the Kremlin wouldn't want to piss off the city's populace.
i highly doubt it's an accident
I imagine infrastucture in russia is even worse than it is in america.
There were anti-corruption protests after that one, so I assume that's exactly the case
I'm interested to see whether people evacuated because all the safety systems worked or because everyone is on their toes due to the previous fire.
It's being reported more?
A year ago, local mall/market in Lyubertsy had a fire too, 2 killed (they were illegal immigrants, but still). I can't even find any news about it in the Internet nowadays.
