Farcry 2 while having it's own problems has kept surprising up to date

Now I have to play Far Cry 2 again.
Wow, did they really get rid of all the silly healing animations?
One thing he got wrong is the exploding ammo crates. Those exist in Far Cry 5, he just shot the small ammo packs which also don't explode if you shoot them in Far Cry 2.
Also I don't see the problem with the fire. Montana is nowhere near as dry and arid as Africa.
This but I think it was mostly about the fact leafs just turn black instead of burning away.
Far Cry 5 is much more arcadey than FC2, but still i wish they would have done few things alike in FC2. Like FC2 explosion effects are more punchy and the AI interactions much more complex. The most thought in Far Cry 5 must have gone to the villains and their gimmicks...
Wait, RPG Rockets ran out of fuel? I did not not know that, that is a badass detail.
A lot of the arcadey-ness is just apart of the FPS demographic nowadays (I feel atleast)
This video is a good example of heart being taken away from game development, looking at the details from shooting branches off trees, bushes moving about as you walk up to them, leaves burning away from trees, loads of a little things that while absent in Far Cry 5, added alot to Far Cry 2.
Far Cry 2 may hve had a lot more love put into it, but some of the design decisions for the SP part will always bring it down
A lot of that can be chalked up to their aim for realism in Far Cry 2, which has fallen to the wayside in these last few games. I’m more disappointed that you can’t shoot through sheet metal in 5, since I’m almost positive you could do that in 3 and 4.
Far Cry 2's fire effects are still some of the best I've ever seen in a game.

The description mentions that "FC5 has its own attention to details that FC2 doesn't have, this comparison doesn't mean FC5 has nothing to show.", what are those? I'm curious.
Fc2 is the only game where i actually fell asleep playing because it was so bland. The small details were neat, but the game was driving 90% of the time from point a to point b. Details don't really mean anything if the game is boring (looking at you gtaV) If you really really want to see small details, look at bf1. Game is full of the smallest details to immerse in. Shooting guns outside will cause the casing's sound hitting the ground change depending where you are. Like casings falling into mud will make a plop sound, while grass and snow its a soft shuffle sound. Same goes with shooting indoors, casings will bounce and clang on wooden/concrete floors. Windmills in maps will spin faster when the weather gets bad, flags also move more in stormy weather. Guns collect mud while diving down or running in it, then dipping in water or being in the rain will slowly wash it all off. All kinds of small things that have no bearing on the gameplay, but it immerses you into it. What he also didnt show is that buildings are flammable, so a molotov can accidentally turn a log cabin into a inferno. But thats crowbat, king of nitpicking.
Well for one thing you reload the RPG correctly in FC5, amazingly enough it's only the second FPS to actually do that (the first is Payday 2). Every other FPS just shows you shoving the rocket in and being ready to fire, but FC5 and PD2 properly show you having to cock the hammer after loading up.
rip computer
Says he's running on a 760 though so it's not that bad really.
Yeah pretty much. I've beaten the game, yet I can barely remember anything that happened in it. It's that unmemorable.
I know it's the most controversial topic in games but I always loved the gun jamming feature. It add those stories that you look back and laugh.
I tried restarting FC2 recently and yeah I was honestly so bored. Nothing about the gameplay made me want to keep playing. The driving felt bland, the shooting felt bland, the orange filter felt bland.
This is nitpicky has hell but why does Ubisoft always make guns leftie versions? The m14 in fc5 and the sniper and ak in fc2. Why.
It's an old trend in video games, goes back to the 90s, it's usually done to make the firing animations look more exciting since you can see the bolt cycle and the shell ejection.
i played for an hour and got bored because it was so brown and dull
I really liked FC2 at the time. When it came out, I was super immersed in the world, and had a great time with it. Now though, I guess I've become so jaded that it's hard for me to get immersed in games like that anymore.
I really wish we could see another game with FC2's map system but with better combat and outposts.
Video reminds me how much I love FC2, but the respawning outposts and !! MALARIA !! make it hard to revisit.
