Im real curious how their new sound will develop with this album. Get hype!
If it's at least half as good as AM was it'll still be god-tier
Damn, it's been a while since AM now hasn't it? I hope it's just as good. AM is just such an amazing album. Absolutely loved it and one of my favorite consistent albums to listen to. Looking forward to their new sound, damn. I am hopeful!
I feel alone when I say I was not a fan of AM. It's just not the sound I was looking for when it comes to Arctic Monkeys. I'm more than happy when a band changes their sound, like what they did with Humbug and SIAS, but yeah, AM didn't grab me. That said I'm cautiously optimistic about this release.

Both teasers have me stoked. That dark sound at the beginning is already amazing, assuming it hints towards the overall sound of the album anyway; and then that brief teaser towards the end is amazing as well
If they plan on giving me more of the 4-5 songs I love from AM then consider me stoked. Never been a huge fan, but damn do they make good music to listen to when you just wanna relax and jam out a little bit.
Apparently there aren't going to be any singles so you're in luck.
i know they've been going for a more laid-back, "mature" sound as of late, but i hope they bring back at least a bit of the energy they had on the first couple albums. WPSIA was a brilliant debut, FWN was an excellent development of that sound, and Humbug and SIAS, while not quite as good, were still interesting stylistic shifts that demonstrated plenty of creativity. AM on the other hand felt rather bland in comparison besides a couple great singles, and felt like they were pandering to a "chill" "indie" demographic rather than making a truly compelling record
meh lost interest in arctic monkeys long ago but will give this a whirl.
I hated AM. Been following the band since their first album and just feels like the fame got to Alex Turner's head. Willing to give this a bash though. Can't wait to see them at TRNSMT in Glasgow. Only going the one day so thought I'd go VIP and make it special.
How so? I've not followed them as closely
Personal opinion really. They've gone from being a fast, scrappy indie rock band to something different. Sure, it sounds more refined but it lacks something.
I don't necessarily dislike any of their stuff but I think every album after the second one just got progressively worse and egotistical. They feel more like tributes than original ideas. AM was better than Suck it and See though.
I actually prefer Suck It to AM. The writing was pure genius on Suck It.
Imo, most of their songs nowadays just sound a lot alike... like they caught the Oasis bug. Lol.
My first real introduction to the band was AM, and I loved it. Since then I've listened to all the rest, and "Suck it and See" has grown so much on me, I think it became my favorite album.
Oh boy, hopefully they come to brazil!!
*spits out my unseasoned chicken and potato salad* OH MY GOD WOW BECKY, BRANDON COME LOOK
I miss the way they sounded in Whatever People Say I Am That's What I'm Not/Favourite Worst Nightmare, it was so energic and organic, I enjoy those so much more over AM, which isn't a bad album, it has more finesse and all but several of the songs sound the same now
im the same, theres not so much energy in AM as there was in previous releases, i can definitely listen to AM but at the same time nothing truly did stand out to me aside from previous records like FWN and WPSIA. It sounds like some of it was definitely influenced by alex turners duo with Mile Kane (Last of the Shadow Puppets), that mature, stylistic sound rather than the nitty gritty indie rock they used to pump out. Theres been a serious lack of energetic indie rock lately imo, stuff like Slaves are pretty good but at the same time can be seen as too heavy and borderline punk than that 60's garage aesthetic indie had back in 2007-8.
It's so boring I almost died
the whole album just sounds like a single big ass song
This review is pretty much exactly how I feel http://pilerats.com/music/bands/arctic-monkeys-new-album-is-out-now-and-sorry-but-its-quite-boring/
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks this. I was afraid that if I said this, someone would just say I didn't get it or something.
Most of the responses I've seen are like "but it's a concept album it's SUPPOSED to be dull"
i'm so over people using "it's concept!!!111" as an excuse to make lazy stuff
It seems pretentious as shit from skipping around. Doesn't even sound like a separate song majority of the time.
Doesn't strike me as lazy at all, just 2boring4me
