Holy shit they have to explain like every aspect of PUBG apparently, even down to the memes. https://puu.sh/zWVTA/ba68331d95.png
Well, they've worked out a deal or some shit with Tencent, so maybe it's easier if you've got an uber-powerful partner in the country?
Doesn't Bluehole have a partnership with Tencent? I'm sure Tencent can do something considering they're fucking huge.
The own 40% of Epic.
The fact that they list the shrinking play area as on of the infringements is a joke, does that mean mario party can sue them because one of its minigames has platforms shake beforehand to show where you can go before they fall off thus shrinking the area as well? Like the game is obviously a visual copy, models and all but suing someone for something like that is a little bit absurd.
Imo, if you cant compete on the quality of your product you should just go out of business.
Probably just more fuel for the fire to strengthen their case, I don't think they're opposed to Mario. Just how similar the overall game is in every aspect, including gameplay so I imagine it's worth mentioning.
Agreed. Asset recycling is totally understandable. Generic or vague functions not so much. Reminds me of how Apple (I believe it was) tried to patent the whole "swipe to unlock" motion...
Good lord why are these guys so overprotective about something that wouldn't obviously last forever They're already losing out to fortnite, and this looks like they're just screwing with the competitors on mobile because they can
because we think capitalism and anti-competitive protectionist strategies are compatible for some reason, and have let companies abuse and warp the copyright and patent systems. if you can't innovate, make it so nobody else can!
if an ak47 in my game becomes a meme can I sue other games that have ak47's?
