I posted this in Update 6 but I feel like it will get buried there so I decided to make a thread about it.
If we're doing away with megathreads for topics and replacing them entirely with subforums, and don't want to have general <topic> threads, why not replace them with per-section live chat rooms?
These topic threads are important to creating the cool subcommunities that FP is known for. It's clear that users want a general chat lounge for these subforums, but garry does not think megathreads fit with the ideal structure of a forum. A valid compromise that legitimately meets both parties' needs would be having live shoutbox type chats for each subforum. These would take the place of megathreads as always-open rolling chat lounges for the topic without pushing individual topic threads down.
Thoughts?
I like the idea, @evilweazel suggested just adding a channel on to the FP discord.
I feel like we should just have it the way we had previously. I suspect that if we were to have a Chat forum, all traffic will just go there instead leaving a bunch of husks everywhere else. Standard megathreads in their respective subforum seems best.
