• The way Subforums are implemented isn't good at exposing people to new things

People keep saying to post feedback in it's own thread, so here's what I had to say in the update thread as it's own thread. "The whole premise of these ~exposing~ users to content they wouldn't have seen otherwise is really strange to me, because once you start encouraging different threads for each topic, people will start only visiting the threads that they know they are interested in, so we've gone from reading every post of a subjects megathread, even stuff that you didn't go there for (which can sometimes include stuff that you didn't realise interested you), to reading only the shit that you already know you are interested in. It's so counter-intuitive as to be bizarre. The worst part is, there's a good idea in here somewhere. Like when I first saw the Nintendo subforum I thought that was a good idea, because each new Nintendo game could get a thread in the Nintendo subsection, without needing to worry too much about being buried for being slow. But it's just implemented so poorly. The subsections are too specific, so it's not going to facilitate games with slower threads, instead you have a bunch of bloat from larger games getting more and more niche topics and because all threads in a subforum are still displayed in the main game hub games with slower threads that were at the risk of being buried are now just guaranteed to be buried. I can see the logic behind breaking up the larger megathreads into a subforum for more diversified topics, but they would need to be grouped. TF2 does have the potential for a number of threads. But when each thread still appears on the frontpage of GGD, it's to the detriment of any threads that weren't as active. If there was a single link in the GGD which lead to the TF2 subforum that could be helpful, but right now we have like 20 links to different subsections of the same subforum. And I like the intention. But this implementation couldn't be further from accomplishing it. Like, I've genuinely discovered games in the past because I noticed their thread in General Games Discussion, but that isn't going to happen as things are now."
