The Combat Pilot role can only fly the AH-1 Cobra, and OH-6 Loach, as well as the UH-1 Huey Bushranger. (Shown in picture)
Discuss the role here, any tips or tricks on flying, favorite strafing spots, landing methods, tips on working with your commander to taxi him around so he can mark targets, etc.
How do you use the alternate weapons on the co-pilot seat? I try every button but all that happens is I either get out, switch seats or switch to the sights.
Apparently it's the "previous weapon" and "next weapon" keys.
It's honestly very, VERY stupid how it's setup. Left click (primary fire) shoots the "primary" weapon. You'd think it'd be the gun but NO! In the pilot's seat, it fires rockets, and in the gunner's seat, it fires 40mm grenades on the cobra.
(It IS the gun in the Loach pilot seat and Bushranger gunner's seat, though)
To use the autocannon (Basically a more powerful gun that has a small AOE and might be able to destroy tunnels, I've heard mixed information on reddit) you click the mouse wheel in for the cobra pilots seat. It's honestly very poor game design.
Middle-click also handles the minigun on the cobra gunner seat. It lacks the AOE effect of the autocannon the pilot gets, but can be aimed.
Something interesting is if you press X as a cobra pilot, it toggles primary fire to use the autocannon, but no matter what, middle click is ALWAYS the autocannon. We can't have the primary weapon be the autocannon, with the secondary being rockets which IMHO would make more sense.
For the gunners seat, X does nothing. It really needs to be looked at by the devs because a limited ammo, high damage explosive AOE weapon really should be an alt fire.
