I figure it's a good idea to share advice, strategies etc with people. I'm not a great player but for the sake of thread content here's some notes:
General:
+ Don't be afraid to build - building helps you block bullets, get height advantages over enemies, revive teammates and other crafty shit.
+ Brightly coloured skins can give you away to keen-eyed players - anything that contrasts heavily against the map
+ Voice chat is more or less critical to succeed at squads
+ Get used to what loadout works best for you and loosely aim to find it each match - but get used to guns you don't normally use just in case
+ Always try to be a different player than you were when you started the day. Are you bad with shotguns? Try dropping tilted to get some practice. Are you bad with snipers? Stick it out til the endgame like a mad stealthy cunt and take some potshots. You have to fall down and get up to learn how to walk
Solos:
+ Following the very edge of the circle takes me to the top 10 more or less every time
+ Sometimes standing still is the best thing you can do.
+ Assume that every player you see or kill was followed by another player
Duos/Squads:
+ Communication is key. Make concise callouts, don't take it too seriously but aim to win. 'Enemy 330 on the hill' is much better than 'Uh...I see a guy, like, on top of that building next to you? You know the one? Yeah, that building. Oh, you're dead. Sorry.'
+ Stick together.
+ For every kill, assume that there is a teammate and an enemy who followed their pair.
+ Share loot and ammo evenly. Make sure everyone knows what guns to give to who. If everyone has heavy bullets but only one player in your team has a sniper, pool your loot together and give the sniper the heavy bullets.
+ Build around your downed teammates to revive them, and get the downed teammate to keep an eye out for you
Switch guns a lot for extra burst damage. Pump -> tactical/heavy works well, so does revolver/handcannon/hunting/sniper -> AR for distance.
