Facepunch is starting to become more thread-oriented, which means people will create lots of threads in order to ask questions, start discussions about various specific topics, so forth and so on, but the way forum and sub-forum pages are organized means that only threads that get posts will rise to the top, which means that threads that don't get any will fall off the first page, sadly. I propose that users, on forum and sub-forum pages, get to personalize how they want their threads sorted (instead of always being first post = highest on the list): Newest Posts: Shows threads with recent posts first. Default behaviour and how Facepunch has worked since pretty much forever. Oldest Posts: Shows threads with the oldest posts first. Maybe people are interested in what the first post ever was on the forums. Why not satisfy their curiosity? Newest Threads: Shows recently-created threads in order (newest first). Ideal for the Fast Threads forum, looking for Seeking An Answer threads, and to know what's new in a forum or subforum. Maybe someone has made a thread about a game you like or a topic you're knowledgeable about and you want to be the first to know before it drowns between other long-standing threads. Oldest Threads: Shows the oldest threads in order (oldest first). Much like Oldest Posts, satisfy people's curiosity and let them see how things were before the new threads happened. Least Posts: Shows threads with the least posts. This option would ideally display threads with zero or very few posts. This is ideal of Seeking An Answer threads with unanswered questions, or maybe a thread started that you didn't know about that has been up for quite some time and you want to contribute to it. Most Posts: Shows threads with the most posts. Ideal for spotting megathreads, heated discussions, etc. Seeking An Answer Threads: Only show threads with Seeking An Answer active. Answered: Shows Answered Seeking An Answer threads only. Unanswered: Shows Unanswered Seeking An Answer threads only. This is an independant toggle from the other filters. This is helpful if you're looking to help people whose questions still haven't been answered yet, or if you're looking for threads that might have your question answered (although maybe that's better for the Search function itself). I can see some filters being useless (Oldest Posts and Oldest Threads filling the same niche, for example), but ideally it should improve everyone's posting experience, both from people who want to create a thread to have a question answered or want to talk about a recent topic, and from people who also wish to contribute in those threads as well.
