'Congressman is an idiot'
I get the point he was trying to make, but damn that's a stupid way to go about doing it. Loaded guns don't come out of a hipster unless a serious threat arises our you're taking it out to put away/use at the range/clean etc.
it isnt like we never had accidental firearm deaths before [/s]
Yeah, this is the kind of thing that makes a respectable gun owner cringe. At least it's not like when Feinstein muzzle-swept an entire crowd with her finger on the trigger.
my question is, was the barrel of the gun aimed at the crowd or not my favorite part of all of this is that this he started this off by stating this: “I’m not going to be a Gabby Giffords,” Norman told the Post and Courier afterward, referring to the 2011 shooting of an Arizona congresswoman during a public appearance in the Tucson area. “I don’t mind dying, but whoever shoots me better shoot well, or I’m shooting back.” The woman he's referring to is Gabrielle Giffords, a Democrat Arizona House member who was shot in the head in an attempted assassination by some psychopath Basically putting himself on a pedestal above a shooting survivor and six other dead by saying that he would have been cool and bad-ass enough to save 6 people rather than get shot in the head like some namby pamby democrat would Why are are Republicans so fucking awful
I didn't know hipsters had that ability
It's hard to lug a hipster around, but man oh man, they can hold anything you cram into them.
Heck, even if he had put the gun in the holster it would have been better. All that "showing off" a loaded weapon (not talking about threatening), is increase the likelihood that there is an accident.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFKX8KkhmhI You have no idea
So basically, his argument is 'well, if she had a gun, maybe she wouldn't have been shot'. A real bombshell of a point, to be sure.
I can't tell what's worse, the gross negligence of gun safety by a guy meant to enforce gun safety, or unreasonably spinning a tragic incident of a peer he works in the same room with as if the mere concept of carrying would have magically prevented the incident altogether.
I'm sure he would have liked the rest of the crowd to be armed too. I sure a crowd of confused, armed civilians startled by a lone gunman would have ended well.
Maybe this guy is on to something. What if JFK had a gun? We just don't know!
I think it's ridiculous to predict what you would do in a crisis situation
Of course it is better to be prepared and to have a gun and not need it, as opposed to needing it and not having it... But this was not the best way of making that point...
idk if its me or its because im tired... but fuck me...America is really going to shit isn't it? I swear to fuck we're going into a "Crisis of the Third Century". 21st century MURICAN style...
oh good he's going to overpower gunmen who have presumably shot through dozens of security and probably are well armed and armored who are taking them by surprise, all with his .38 special.
Jesus Christ what do you think this is, Grand Theft Auto?
idk if someone's gonna shoot through a security detail to get into a room to kill a congressman they probably are going to be carrying more than a glock
Sounds like Improper Exhibition of a Firearm to me
You know the average Congressmen don't get a dedicated security detail, right? At the capitol building, they have the capitol police, and it's well guarded. At speaking events they usually have local police nearby, but that's not anything special since anyone can do this, and travel isn't guarded. If you're just out and about, or making minor stops here and there, you don't have any security provided to you. The only congressmen with 24/7 security detail are the leaders, like the Speaker of the House, or Minority / Majority Leaders. Or in special cases, if there is a credible ongoing threat to your life, then you will be given a temporary security detail.
the context is a high dollar fundraiser, kind of the place you have security details.
Sounds like he's just showing off the damn thing. And it's amazing how pulling a gun without much warning or reason to do so doesn't cause a panic - in any other country someone would tackle him while everyone else shit themselves and ran.
