The great coupé pronunciation debate - coop or coo-pay?

Round 2 lads,
Rate snowflake for coop
Rate artistic for coo-pay
Let’s get it on lads
Its pronounced "coupé"
It's a french origin word for 'cut' or something right? Stands to reason that it should follow the french pronunciation.
cow-pee
Apparently some people don’t mind calling their two-door cars the same thing as a chicken coop; a word also rhyming with poop.
Uncultured savages, I tell you.
I guess if you're anglo-saxon and don't mind murdering other languages' words like the linguistic serial killers you are, you can make it rhyme with "poop" I guess.
I think it depends on the context.
1996 Dodge Neon Coupe (Coop)
2018 Ford Mustang Coupe (Coop)
2018 Audi S5 Coupe (Koopay)
Then there's Kia... 2016 Kia Forte Koup (Cow-puh)
the u makes the e silent
you say give, not givee
Lucky me, we the portuguese just read "cu-pê"
As for yanks and brits... Fuck sakes, its the aluminium all over again YES ITS ALUMINIUM, NOT ALUMINUM
but i don't recall 'have' or 'give' containing an é under any circumstance.
Why people even care about such semantics is beyond me. Both pronunciations are technically correct, although the element's true name is aluminium. Maybe if the original scientist hadn't fucked up while spelling it to begin with, the entire debacle wouldn't exist.
On topic, I pronounce it "coop", and really don't give a shit if it rustles anyone's jimmies.
It’s the letter é, not e.
You would pronounce the word résumé as res-u-may, and not res-um, right? So why would you pronounce the word coupé as coop instead of coo-pay?
