Coin awards 1 coin, Gem is 10. But I've got 46 coins and I might want to give it to a user for creating an Alyx Vance nude mod that has jiggly tits and a vagina that shoots out cum every 10 seconds.
So why can't I give away 40 coins, maybe even 20.
The coin/gem restricts users who have cash to splash, and upsets those with sugar daddy tendencies
My solution is a substitute that would allow users to input a custom amount and still wag their dick. Here's how it would work.
Phase One - Creation of Content
User creates post/thread on any given topic. A user may object to gaining and therefore toggles an option in the dropdown menu to not receive an incentive.
Phase Two - Collecting Coins
A user who is interested stumbles upon a post that peaks their interest and wishes to grant said user some coins for their outstanding post
The user clicks this icon in the ratings menu

A dialogue box comes up and asks the user to input an amount (ranging from 1 to however much they have in their purse)
Once done, the receiving user gets the funds through a notification in user alerts
"User1 has given you x coins for your post in thread"
Other users then see the money icon with the amount that the posting user has received along with those who have given them coins

Rationale
I see this being a good way for rich users or mods to give an unlimited amount of coins (that is only stopped by the amount in your purse) to users who make outstanding posts or threads.
The current system is incredibly limiting and unless a mass amount of people come together, its not really that great.
This would in some cases make users want to post better content if they knew people had the ability of giving them coins that weren't ranged from 1 to 10. Also if Garry decides to add more bonuses for coins, it would help massively.
I do see this system being abused in regards to coin farming or people helping their mates out, but this practice is almost unstoppable and cannot be curbed. Then again, its virtual currency so it shouldn't be a huge issue.
Anyway, thoughts?
It should have your name on it since I doubt people will rate one post like that more than once at a time. Also the more coins you spend the bigger the rating should be.
This also handles inflation which is going to become a problem at some point in the future.
Basically there's nothing to spend coins on right now except for the rare post after you get a background which makes people store up coins.
Makes coins become worthless in the long run (very few people are probably going to drop the thousands of coins needed to max out an avatar when we have BG images to begin with).
Maybe you could even have it so if a user drops a high amount of coins (like if someone drops 50 coins on a post) it shows up as a pinned highlighted on the event log for awhile or something.
Anyway it adds some versatility to coins which they're lacking right now.
Crowdfunds are going to bring value back to coins, just you wait #hodl
