Another post about UO and Ruin, because when i was watching a video on Ruin, it looked like a 1st person version of UO and I was so psyched, until i saw the leveling tree. For those that remember... you didnt have to pick a class, a skill direction, things like that. You just got skills for things you did. If you used a sword, your swordsmanship skills increased, etc... you maxed out at 700 skill points but could allocate them however you wanted! To any skill. And much like other people mentioned on here, you also had 3 traits (mana, strength and dexterity) that you could allocate 225 points however you wanted. Get str and dex to 100 each if you're a fighter, or spend them differently if you're a mage. It allowed for endless possibilities in character customization.
I was wondering, considering the skill tree and traits... this isn't a medieval survival game but an actual MMORPG? Also I like the fact you can pick your own traits to level up and skills. Then you're free to make up your own tactics and skills. You could be a paladin, swordsman, tank, mage, archer?
Yeah you could be anything, or a combination of classes, depending how you allocated skills. More of an actual MMORPG, but it sounds quite like Ruin in terms of having safe cities where you can bank stuff, and outside of those city limits, it's mayhem (apart from housing, which is safe, and another great aspect of UO).
