So yea, a thread for discussing about gear, gear whoring, and shit Current equipment I have. The Mamiyaflex is my dad's, so is the Nikon F4. Daily used are my Hasselblad, Canon 6D, 24-105mm, Nikon FM, Youngnuo transmitters, YN speedlite, and the trusty ad200 as my main studio strobe (its really fucking good) Not included are my white and silver umbrella, reflector and my 80cm soft box. Recently bought a 2.3m White backdrop. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/113069/45e56e76-baea-4356-ab8d-6909036be1a9/20180409_140058.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/113069/6e679bb6-936c-46a8-8869-267336612c53/20180408_235115.jpg

Does anyone have experience with using Fuji mirrorless cameras? I currently have a the original fuji x100 and am looking into getting something that uses the x mount, mainly due to how restrictive the fixed lens can be at times.
getting into vintage gear is dangerous everything is so relatively cheap i want everything
Bought a Leica IIIa and two fake Russian Leicas from some local dude who's selling a lot of his GIGANTIC collection of old cameras.
I have an XT-2, what do you want to know?
I want to make a 3D-printable sort of machine or tool for developing film in a lit room without having to worry about your shit getting ruined. Starting with 35mm, because that's easiest to develop a mechanism for. I imagine it'll be quite difficult regardless. Anyways, here's some early stage "sketching", trying to figure out which direction to go in. http://puu.sh/ATN8e.png
M39 to Sony-F adapter arrived http://puu.sh/AU3Dh.png
How's it work? And I don't want to sound like a dick but what's the problem with using a changing bag? I do mine at the kitchen table, my biggest issue is that the tank leaks (chemicals not light)
It's just an early concept, I haven't made it yet. The idea is that you'll be able to just put your 35mm film roll into it, and load it onto a mechanism similar to one you'd see in a camera, and then close a lid and pull the entire film onto a reel just by turning a lever / pushing a button. Like a changing bag, but even lazier.
I've only been at this for maybe a couple of months but I've picked up a few cameras. I'm a fan of rangefinders https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/227878/6b6e6c65-1927-484a-a8f2-fa4ae679ac63/gear2.png Olympus Trip 35 Olympus 35 RC Canon A35F Konica EE-Matic Deluxe My gf has a Nikon FE I've currently got film in the 35 RC. I've haven't had a full roll of film through the Konica yet. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/227878/9d5d5397-79cf-4389-b6ce-07dcd91e4bda/gear1.png This is the darkroom stuff we've got. I haven't used this enlarger to print yet, but my GF used it in our old bathroom. The plan is to use the garage as a darkroom. It shouldn't take much, I'm waiting on a local metal fabber to make a box for the roller door and we should be nearly light tight.
got my first camera the other day, an Olympus OM-10 don't have any good pics of it right now, but it didn't seem to be in any sort of bad shape, and as a bonus it came with some lenses i have yet to look at and apparently a flash (which i haven't used yet) don't really know if it's any good? just hoping that it isn't busted or something, because i'm having fun with it so far there's no "general discussion" thread it seems so i figured this was the next best place, don't kill me ;-;
Bit of a bump. Working on getting a new camera after my previous one (a 4 year old Nikon D3200) was stolen. I primarily do video work and so I've been looking at mirrorless cameras, in particular the Lumix GH5. My friend just bought one and I got the chance to mess with it yesterday and I love it. I also see the GH5s which is, from what I've seen, more geared towards video thanks to the dual amp ISO settings. The lack of good stabilization is killing me though. Anyone happen to have any experience with these cameras? Which do you think is better for my uses?
i feel like the gh5s isnt gonna be as value its about 600$ more and unless you already have a gimbal youre gonna be wanting to get one + the gh5 never had terrible terrible iso performance go for the gh5 imo spend the extra money on a good lens
The GH5 has amazing stabilization which will be a massive help for you if you don't have a gimbal setup
That's deffo true. I'll probably pick up the GH5 once I get some cash. It'll be a great straight out of university camera for me, I think. Just need a portable light kit and I'll be set to do anything anywhere just about
Considered the sony A7 range?
I've been considering selling my canon 6D for the new Sony A73. Its not a huge necessity since I'm mostly working with strobes, but it does get annoying for events when its too dark, or for studio shots with movements or sports. Biggest buying point for me is the 4K so I can do video work better, the great af and iso range, but the price really puts me off.
GH5 is probably cheaper considering the lower prices of APC-C optics.

Cool shit for sure. Great to see Sony getting some real competition.
Very cool, but very out of range of any hobbyist work. At least now second hand prices on aging full frame nikons should start dropping a bit.
I received this in the post today. Minolta alpha 7700i, also sold as the Maxxum 7000i. I think this is the Japanese version It's my first SLR, I was really in the market for a more manual SLR but this was super cheap. The LCD in the viewfinder half works, but everything else seem to work fine. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/227878/fa1b6023-b5b1-4d0a-bdb6-2633f5bb1c78/a7700i.jpg
Still conflicted between the 5DIV and the 1DX II. I feel like the 1DX is the best choice as it does actual 4K, it's built like a tank to survive daily abuse and I can afford it. The only thing the 5DIV has is price (I could buy another lens or tbh a 2nd IV with some graft vs a single 1D) and megapickles. The main disadvantage is the slower focusing drive.
Not sure what sort of high octane extreme photography you do, but the 5DIV is plenty fast.
Not too much but the higher wattage/voltage of the battery in the 1D is said to drive slow lenses (85 1.2) a bit quicker.
My mom has recently started using my old Nikon P90 more and more, she really enjoys photographing the moon as well as birds, moose, deer and other wild animals. While the camera produces kind of shitty images at max zoom it's still better than my significantly more expensive D7500 with a 300mm lens, at least for instagram and such. I'm thinking of buying her the P900 but I'm not sure. I would prefer a DSLR but it would be a lot nore expensive to achieve that kind of zoom. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?
What does she use it for? If its for facebook/instagram, its good enough. Even small prints.

since we're showing off our equipment, here's my cheap ass setup https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/57917/86a3877f-1d0f-42fc-9c27-49781677e12b/20180907_204116.jpg Nikon D3200 with 18-55mm default lens been using this for 4 years already, sadly i still don't have a tripod or a fancy lens. Also in the background is the Asus laptop that's basically my travel editing station and photo storage.
