Trump attorney Cohen is being investigated for possible bank fraud, campaign finance violations, according to a person familiar with the case https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/fbi-seizes-records-related-to-stormy-daniels-in-raid-of-trump-attorney-michael-cohens-office/2018/04/09/e3e43cf4-3c30-11e8-974f-aacd97698cef_story.html?noredirect=on&utm_term=.22695befa987 FBI agents on Monday raided the Manhattan office of President Trump’s private lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, seizing records about Cohen’s clients, including those related to a 2016 payment he made to adult-film star Stormy Daniels, who claims to have had a sexual encounter with Trump. Among the documents seized were privileged communications between Cohen and his clients — including those with Trump, according to a person familiar with the investigators’ work. Investigators took Cohen’s computer, phone and personal financial records as part of the search of his office at Rockefeller Center, the person said.
This is how you bloody well drain a swamp.
Considering Mueller's known for taking down tough crime-boss cases, I wonder just how deep this "campaign finance fraud" rabbit hole goes... After all, IIRC Trump himself once said of the Mafia "They're nice guys, really nice guys, just don't owe them money!" or something to that effect.
This pleases me.
Trump also said this (about Jeffery Epstein aka lolita express (ie the plane Trump flew on) guy aka child prostitution ring organiser): There are many women in his life, mostly young, but there is no one of them to whom he has been able to commit…. Epstein is known about town as a man who loves women — lots of them, mostly young. Model types have been heard saying they are full of gratitude to Epstein for flying them around, and he is a familiar face to many of the Victoria’s Secret girls. And remember the thing about the 14 year old girl and Trump saying "In a few years I'll be dating her". Guy says crazy incriminating shit and just gets away with it https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/516/d3a69d09-9d0f-438a-b568-14b07e215f14/image.png
Mueller isnt directly involved in this investigation, actually. He only gave the recommendation
Sort of. Mueller's team isn't directly handling this warrant and investigation, and there speculations as to why. The most interesting idea to me is that Mueller is specifically doing it this way so that he can have two teams handling the case: the SDNY boys who went in on the raid against Cohen's legal office, as well as prosecutors who are going to go through the gathered evidence, are the "dirty" team; they are responsible for going through the tons of sensitive evidence that MAY be protected by client-attorney privilege and sorting out what is legitimately protected and must be kept out of the evidence file and what isn't Mueller's team, meanwhile, has no immediate access to the raided materials and they won't until the "dirty" team filters out the legally-inadmissible and unrelated materials; they only get what's relevant to the case without seeing all of the unrelated evidence that'd give Cohen grounds for fighting the raid, making them the "clean" team One of the core concepts of the Steele dossier is that Trump is supposedly very easy to blackmail using sexy women, remember. Mueller has reason to be interested in Trump paying off a porn star to keep their affair quiet, because that's an example of the President capitulating to blackmail and trying to hide it from sight. Mueller has very good reason to be interested in the Stormy affair.
