• The problem with the Server update system.

So sometime in the last 12 hours a patch was rolled out, I got on, updated etc. When i tried to join my current server, i got the error "Disconnected: Wrong Connection Protocol: Server update required," and i have discovered that a server will only update after all the "non-updated players" leave, which is stupid because rust is a very, very demanding game that requires lost of hours of play to actually get good gear, and most players will likely play for full days, meaning that a small group of players could stop the server from updating. This is a horrible system because they could be offlining people right now or they could be getting all the airdrops and Chinook drops and hoarding them. A suitable way to fix this system is to make it so that a chat warning comes up saying that server will automatically restart in X amount of time, after a patch. Side note: As of right now i have been waiting 3 hours to get on the server to actually play the damn game.
How would anyone be offlining anyone if the server is down? If you can't get on, they can't get on.
there is no way for anyone to offline raid the chinhooks have not been added to the server cuz its not updated every thing about this post is wrong
Correct, you cannot offline raid chinooks. But I think they mean that for the few people that get in fast after updates, they are able to grab all the goodies (like from chinooks) and raid people that are offline while others are still updating client, etc.
Chinooks have been added to the game? also i meant that the people who are still online, (with a pre-patch version of the game) can get the chinook boxes while no-one else is on, or they can offline people.
they cant get the chinook becasue the server has not updated there for noone can get chinook
If the server needs to be updated NO one can get on that has the new updates, Your rust files are updated when you load the game so that is the same for everyone, Only those players that are actually playing when there is an update will be able to get anything and offline raid as they would normally , But they won't get any "new" content that is in the update because the server has'nt got "what ever" yet and wont till it updates and if it is a "wipe" update they will lose whatever they get anyway,
