• Can we get a cooking subforum?

As a cook and avid home cook, it'll be really handy to have a sub forum for food. Food is one of the necessities of life, and exchanging recipes, teaching people how to cook well, is an important skill. At least uni students on this forum know there is something else beside pot noodles and microwaved curries.
Do it up. I want to share my experimental recipes
dibs on the pruno thread
We'll probably end up getting one fairly soon (along with DIY and Hobbies) but interest in the subject is welcomed. I know I'd like one.
If 10 of you can cook a steak medium rare or show you can make sunny side up eggs with bacon and post it here ill rush this request asap
I can do the first one, making one tomorrow infact, used this to help me cook better steaks. (I also highly recommend the marinade even for other steaks, haven't used it in a while but it's amazing!) https://youtu.be/ir5U88d_3iI
You got it boss, I needed an idea of what to make for breakfast tomorrow anyway
Medium rare is a step in the wrong direction; rare is where it's at.
Would make a great mega th-.....oh never mind
~if~ we do a hobbies subforum i can see about adding it along with the other previously mentioned hobby sub requests.
Shes showcasing a reverse sear which is a good way to get a medium rare/rare steak throughout. Past belief of sears sealing in the juices are untrue, you really don't need to sear the steak till the end because ideally you'll want as much of the meat to be a consistent cook throughout. If you try to sear a large steak first, you'll get a ring of brown around the outside with a rare center, an inconsistent cook gradient. So popping it in the oven first, or sous vide, or even indirect heat on a grill is a valid alternative today. Once you got the meat cooked, you want to add the texture and flavor that comes with a sear, so you toss it in a ripping hot cast iron pan or grill and get that nice crust on the outside. To me though there's no bad steak, so I'll just toss it on the grill or a buttered pan and cook it till I like it.
Can I bake something instead? I don't really cook stuff.
yes, i want to post my shitty food porn
this counts, make it so
I finally have downtime and I can start cooking random shit again. It's amazing what soy sauce and chinese five spices can do for marinade
I'm pretty good at microwave burgers.
Cooking There you go!
Still waiting on the Rainbow Six subforum
Rainbow 6 Siege
since you will be using Olive oil you need to realize it has a low smoke point, it can burn This is a common missconception. Only extra virgin olive oil has a low smoke point, you should not cook with it, you add a bit for dressings or other preparations that dont need very high temperature, like a stew. Refined olive oil, on the other hand, has a high smoke point and it's very good for high temperature cooking (frying, pan searing, etc)
