Sending 20-40k a month, what in the fuck.
What the fuck is that signing. Its so god damn depressing.
Everything about this is rather chilling, from the weird emotionless signing procedure to the blood-ink scandal.
Getting an autograph from Stan Lee in that kind of condition and situation would be so depressing. The only thing people cared for in that video was the signature itself.
People like Lee's daughter existing is the reason why I'm so afraid of the idea of having kids.
Honestly at this point. Stan Lee is probably begging for himself to die. Then watch Disney attempting to keep him alive as long as possible...
The fact that they were shoving shit in his face to sign and taking stuff from his hands would be enough to make me walk away in disgust. Did anyone even attempt to say hello to him? Ask him how he was doing? Did anyone in that room consider that this individual was more than just a novelty, that he was a human being?
I'd trade a small conversation with Stan Lee for a signed iron man shield any day. Such an awesome individual, I hate these bottom feeder scum bags.
I really recommend reading the whole article. The entire situation is like the comedy movie "The Death of Stalin", in the sense that the people around him are completely parasitic and toxic. It's disturbing. His daughter sounds awful, assaulting her own parents because of an argument about a car she saw in front of the house not being a gift for her. Not to mention her insane soending habits and complete lack of self reliance at over 60 years of age. Oh and the three other stooges reminding everyone of the about how they're the biggest friend of Stan Lee while trying to push each other down so they can have everything. And in the middle of it all is Stan himself, completely lost without his late wife, that he was married with for just under 70 years, who kept it all under control in a way he never could and was his partner and friend in all his business and home life problems. I can't know what complete misery might look like for such a succesful person, but I'd imagine it doesn't get much worse than this.
I could have been in line for hours to get something signed, but upon seeing that, I'd just want to wish him a good day and forget about getting anything signed. The guy looks miserable.
Stan Lee's daughter is a fucking nutcase. She's in her late 60s but acts like the worst 16 year old. Like, year-old bread isn't as rotten. And fuck all the parasites along with her. Poor Stan doesn't deserve this crap in the twilight of his life.
Aren't those employees? The last event that I was at that had a stan lee signing booth kept him veeeery far away from the crows.
Yeah but do they really need to snatch shit from his hands and shove stuff to him?
I mean, it's effectively a factory. Everyone involved, including him, knows that. The faster they get done, the faster everyone gets to go home and the fatter wad of cash that they all receive. Still doesn't even remotely begin to justify the daughter shit, though.
If i had that money i dont think i could blow it in a year let alone a month lmao
Holy fuck that is so depressing. Lee already has that standard old man's slow demeanor where he just wants to be left alone in peace, and they treat him as if he was in a fucking assembly line, pushing shit onto him for signatures as soon as he's done with what he had before. I'm pretty sure he couldn't even use the "celebrity go fuck yourself" schtick some people do to shun away fans wanting signatures, even if he wanted to. Hell, it looks like he can't even think about doing it.
Poor Linda Sanchez, too. Got roped into all this shit by just being a nurse.
God he looks so sad. I want to give the poor guy a hug and tell him it'll be alright. How can people do this to their own flesh and blood? Stan doesn't deserve this. A man who brought so much joy to so many shouldn't be turned into an autograph signing slave for a malicious monster of a daughter and her cronies. Someone needs to save him, he deserves a happy ending.
I thought you go to conventions to meet those you admire. When I've met people like Charles Martinet or Grey Griffin, we have a brief conversation and ask how each other's day is, ending with a high five or handshake or, in Grey's case, a hug. This isn't meeting a hero, this is exploiting a hero. How can you enjoy a place where the one person you want to see clearly doesn't want to be there. I wanted Stan Lee to live forever, but after watching that I just want him to be free of this shitty life.
Poor Stan is surrounded by toxic parasites who care for him only for his wealth. Elder abuse is a huge invisible problem and it's going to only become more and more prevalent as the baby boomer generation reaches death of old age. I'd let Stan Lee move in with me without any demands on his money and I don't even like superhero comics, I just can't stand the concept of an old man who should be pleasantly retired being harshly abused by his nearly-senior-citizen children. What a fucking nightmare scenario to think about.
For fuck's sakes this man does not deserve that shit. Why can't he celebrate the end of his life like Dr.Heimlich? By saving someone's life with his own maneuver? Maybe he could create like a final mindblowing as fuck superhero that would become ultra popular like spiderman, that could be incredible.
I am living this exact scenario with my own grandfather and I don't know what to do about it.
Look at this shit, someone has got to step in and do something. This is just fucking sickening to see a man just be used as assembly line worker to print money. Did the organizers even take the moment to stop thinking about dollars signs to see the state he was in ?! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BgfhKG5FTng
Stan Lee's response https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37k8s_MJtlY
I think the video was misleading a little bit. In a vacuum it's heart breaking to look at but but the guy's old and recovering from illness. Not only that but this month is going to see the pinnacle of his work come together and shatter records, all his works are celebrated and enjoyed by millions and millions across the planet and he has fuck tons of people he knows genuinely love him. His life is still pretty grand and no one is forcing him to do anything at the end of the day. I still agree with the sentiment of the thread though, many of his "fans" are sadly vultures and pretty fucking scummy. But I think he was more bored than broken and likely just wanted to get it over with.
