Actually fuck it im posting this here. Mark is testifying live on Capitol hil https://www.twitch.tv/washingtonpost
Ironically, Sanders is streaming this on FB too
Zuckerberg looks like he's really worried about Congress discovering he's from Venus.
Why is the camera shaking?
https://i.imgur.com/74Su9IJ.jpg well that's... reassuring.
I find it rich that the US has the balls to talk about data privacy when they have Prism, Patriot Act, and international pooling of resources, collected data and so on with germany and the UK under things like Tempora. They`re tacitly implying that social media and other internet companies are uniquely culpable in data collection, which is fuck all compared to what our goverments are doing. I just can`t help but feel like this is just them trying to push out the competition and centralize data collection, and keep it away from slightly more public hands.
So whatever Zuckerburg says, does anyone actually believe what he is saying?

Someone's getting roasted (slightly)
"We need to make sure our tools are used for good." Yeah, that's not a slippery slope at all, nope.
zuc just got fuc'd
dont trust the lizard people
How is this man not a robot HOLY FUCK his arguments sound so artificial.
I enter the stream and the first thing I note is him seemingly dodging questions. like a robot. yeah Twitch chat is pretty accurate.
He has the absolute worst poker face. It's so easy to tell when he's being evasive or when a question is making him nervous.
This feels like it's based on a political cartoon picture.
Nothing is going to change from this. All this is, is a PR stunt
I certainly don't like it either, but it seems that the US government basically follows a mantra of it's ok if we do it but a crime if you do, and oddly enough I'm kind of ok with it, or at least feel better if their doing it vs Facebook or other private entities. Hypocritical for sure, but at the same time I would like to think that having a government organization that should arguably be on "our side" doing the shady shit is better than having a company that goes to the highest bidder doing it. I would really rather if they didn't do it at all, and support those who would want things like PRISM, the patriot act and others dismantled, but at the very least it isn't intentional if enemies of our countries get their hands on our data, vs Cambridge Analytica just selling it off as if it was a burger at a pub.
This guy's drinking a lot of water for a robot
The chips that power his evasive and noncommittal AI routines are water-cooled.
"Who is your biggest competitor?" "We have a lot of competitors" Lmao that wasn't the question Zucc
"Do you think that the europeans get things right?" "I think so" Lying through his fucking teeth I see.
He actually doesn't have a monopoly. Nothing about FB makes it even slightly difficult for other social media platforms to coexist, and many do (i.e. twitter, tumblr, etc)
I've posted it before but https://www.theonion.com/american-people-admit-having-facebook-data-stolen-kind-1823997634 the schadenfreude felt right now is immeasurable
People need to quit Facebook

https://i.imgur.com/w2KfRvj.png https://i.imgur.com/dtBjl4l.png Zucc got fucking wrecked here
He's speaking like fucking Trip from Façade. "Senator-- Okay. I think it's time for you to leave."
