After 2800 Hours in rust going trough all the changes updates since legacy i still enjoy playing the game but 6 months ago i stopped playing the game because it got ruined with hackers u grind for hours to get those juicy weapons and then just to all lose it in a unfair fight with a hacker its just too much this is my first Whining post in years and its totally justafied
This week i wanted to pick up rust again because its such a good game (if you can play the game)
went trough a lil rough start at first but nothing unusual for a rustified Main server once we finaly were setteling a littlebit and grinding for stuff we were getting killed by this guy and his teammate over and over again Dope and CrisGreen were his name (Now currently banned by Facepunch after putting in the Reports) after 2 days... but still his Friend CrisGreen and 2 other teammembers are still running around with the hacked Ak's shooting up people ruining the area with stuff they didnt even earned fairly
All in All as a Respected Member withing the Rust Community i would like to Give A BIG FUCK YALL To The Game and its current development do you guys are even trying to get rid of hackers its been a problem since legacy and its getting bigger and bigger to the point were 80% of my friends that used to play rust dont play rust anymore and today was my last game again i just wanted to let you guys know that if the game dies out its not because it was not a fun game or bad game design its because of the Hackers over and over and over again U guys need to get on point with the Anti Hacks its essential for the survival of Rust and no im not a lil bitch calling everyone a hacker i have allot of gaming experience
and as proof Dope got already banned today by facepunch but sadly the rest is still out there
So what do i want?
what i want idealy is for the dev team to Drop everyhing they are currently working on and START ON THE ANTI HACK DEVELOPTMENT! Just my 2 cents guys... Facepunch is not enough!
sorry if this text looks like a mess i dont care anymore.
Sincearly a very upset supportive costumer.
the exact reasons why i dont play offical
Think of it like this: the current anti cheat set up seems bad as cheaters get to run rampant for a week or two. Then they get banned en masse and there is a period of decreased cheat usage because they need to update to circumvent the system.
If they used something that insta banned it would be worse. Insta ban = cheat updated quicker and more frequently = even more cheaters.
And out of curiosity, are you "Well Respected" due to actions or time played? Because I was one of the testers back in the day and was usually decent to most and I sure ain't respected. And "hours logged = respect" seems odd.
I've been here for 12 years, so let me fill you in on some things. First, Facepunch is a SMALL company. There is simply not enough people to develop new titles, work on current titles, improve current titles, and actively ban hackers. That is why EAC is involved, because that's what they do for a living. EAC doesn't just provide services to facepunch, so it is constantly trying to find ways to detect cheats in multiple games. This takes time, and when they do find out how to detect new cheats they wait to ban in Mass for the reason stated above.
What you and many other people are asking for at it's core is active hacker banning. How do you suppose you'd accomplish this? Find people to activly admin servers 24/7? Good luck finding reliable trustworthy indeviduals willing to spend hours a day watching a game server for free. That is of course it's you'd like to pay someone to do so, to which then you'd be looking at a monthly subscription fee just to cover their time.
Takea step back and realize what you're asking for, then all yourself how realistic it would be too accomplish that.
Well first of all, being a SMALL company is not an excuse. It does explain some things (lower budget, etc...) but it does not mean that small companies don't go out business if/when they can't pull their own weight.
I love Rust and the great development that the DEV team had put in, but sometimes "hard decisions" need to be made in order to survive as a company/business. Plus - there are ways to find more money (if money is an issue) outside of just "self-financing" or recurring revenue.
Like I've said - that is why "hard decisions" would need to be made in order to survive as a business. Im sad but at the same time glad they dropped development for "Ruin". As that just means that more hours/resources will be spent on Rust. Instead of having 2 mediocre games (not design wise, but operation wise - looking at it as a whole) - its best to have one great game.
I don't think anyone is challenging the notion of "why" EAC is involved. Its pretty clear to everyone that they are "the bouncer" at the door - tasked with keeping the bad guys out. The complaint is that they don't do a good enough job, or are not able to keep up with all the hackers. Hence the complaint gets often directed at those who "pay the bouncers" - i.e Facepunch.
No, not really. What we are all asking for is better anti-cheat. And better gaming experience (because cheaters affect our gaming experience, obviously). Both anti-cheat (a hired company, like EAC) and gaming experience are responsibility of Facepunch (unless they want to lose business and go bankrupt). I paid my money to Facepunch (not EAC) to have an enjoyable gaming experience. Its their choice now how to use/invest that money to keep me as a (happy) customer so that I can bring in even more customers and grow their revenue in the future.
And nobody is talking about "free" server admins. Thats obviously not the wisest option (just look at the free Forum Mods and the quality/professionalism they provide). I am personally more then happy and willing to pay for active Server Admins, if some kind of subscription model that is applicable evenly to everyone is proposed (yes, like a monthly sub for example, like 70% of MMOs out there have).
Anything is doable with an open mind and the right approach. If the money is the issue - there are always ways to venture-finance the company. If a better Anti-cheat is needed, Im sure EAC is not a monopoly and there is competition which could potentially be a better option.
PS. I am extremely happy by the way that FP finally acknowledged the huge cheater problem in the latest blog. Kudos to them - really. I want to visit their office, shake their hands and buy each one of them a drink! its definitely a step in the right direction!
Pretty much why i only play low pop servers (50-), they tend to have more admins or at least the community forum / discord which you can contact them.
