• Alcohol based markers - HELP!
    2 replies, posted
Hi, sorry if this is already a thread or has been asked. I tried searching, but I couldn't find anything. Here it goes: So I recently got a set of Winsor & Newton promarkes+ some brushmarkers and I am struggling to blend and in general coloring with them evenly. I'll start with eg. the skin color. I try coloring smoothly and not to go over an place more than once.. but I get these ugly lines every god damn time. I have tried searching youtube for tips and tricks, but nothing has worked so far. Anyone got any tips on how to blend the skintone so it doesn't look streaky? Another thing is Hair. So I know of the dark to light technique, but I only have one shade of brown and no black marker, which makes it harder cus of the sectioning of the hair. I want it to be long and flowing, but I feel like I cannot do that without more shades of brown + the black marker. Is there any chance that it can be done without having to buy more markers? I have more questions, but I won't post them all at once.. Two things at the time Thanks in advance :P
What kind of paper are you using?
I'm using Letraset Comic Marker pad A4. It's ment for my Letraset markers which is also alcohol based and I think letraset was bought by winsor and newton... http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZmFXawW8Auc/UwulW0ADdkI/AAAAAAAAAN4/WGeBKQ_6r-A/s1600/paper1.jpg (someone elses picture, but thats the exact one I've been using now). It says: Comic marker pad - This paper has been developed for use with alcohol based markers. Its specially treated bleed-proof surface ebsures superb colour definition and at 70gsm it has just the right transparency for tracing. Let me show you my problem: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/244248/fb2bc1d1-01e9-4fa2-b63d-535c09ca7eab/Piclinesnotcorrect.jpg (Please don't mind the ugly drawing, i'm still practicing though I managed the iris at least xD
