http://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-43720875 An Australian woman who faked having terminal cancer before scamming money from friends of her family has been jailed for three months. Hanna Dickenson, 24, accepted A$42,000 (£22,000; $31,000) after telling her parents that she needed medical treatment overseas. Her parents had received donations from their friends, a court was told. It heard Dickenson spent much of the money on holidays and socialising. In sentencing, magistrate David Starvaggi said Dickenson had "engaged in conduct that tears at the very heartstrings of human nature". Dickenson's lawyer, Beverley Lindsay, argued that her client should be spared jail because she had "turned her life around". The worst of the facts: "one person donated A$10,000 to Dickenson after being discharged from hospital following his own cancer treatment." Fucking human trash, glad she got jailed even if it's just for three months (I assume/hope her record will be stained)
I wonder if it was like something you'd see in a comedy. Like she did it to get money our of her dad but her dad set up the fund and rather than coming clean she just went along with it. Like that it crowd episode https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDZzl9AyXeg
I'm fairly certain that in addition to the 3 months jail, she's also lost: Her friends. Her family. Her decency. Her soul. Her humanity. What a disgusting facsimile of a human.
Good, the jail time is enough to make a good statement. She has also been blasted all over the news and social media, so she will have to live with the consequences of her actions. It takes a real special piece of shit to take advantage of peoples generosity on a disease which causes a lot of suffering.
With my dad facing her situation, its heartbreaking knowing people can be that terrible.
Should add forced community service helping people with actual cancer to her sentence, might change her perspective a bit you'd hope.
