This was actual content by Ubisoft with Fischer saying this stuff and all that? Pretty sad.
i'm very glad they went with fischer looking old
Man, the way he delivers that line.
That was... oddly depressing.
Yeah. Like, it tugged at the heart strings when I saw that and actually made me a little choked up at the time. They were obviously a lot alike both as characters and in their games. Elite sneaky agents who have saved the world many times over and been betrayed many times over and had to do awful things for the job, but also the last major series that handled stealth the way they did. They really don't make them like those two anymore.
I mean they better, he's 61-62 years old during the events of Wildlands.
It actually got me emotionally.
it's also pretty melancholy even removed from the Metal Gear reference, especially considering that Sam was basically a non-character in Blacklist
Its cause that footage is from when Kojipro had a friendly rivalry going on with the Splinter Cell team and they where kinda poking friendly fun at each other in games and trailers.
Although this was a pretty nice/sad moment I wasn't really that impressed with the rest. For most of the DLC they have Ironside play the hardass Sam from Blacklist instead of the more sarcastic one from the older games, especially Chaos Theory.
Only Metal Gear's last two games were adversely affected by Konami. Metal Gear had a really good run under Kojipro without outside interference.
Thief, Splinter Cell, and MGS are basically the holy trinity of stealth games so yeah Sam really is the only one left. Modern "stealth" games like Dishonored don't even come close to being as good as those three.
It's because they have to appeal to people who don't like stealth games, so stealth becomes 'an option' but usually it's far faster and more efficient to just run through and murder shit. MGS tried to avoid it by making the AI halfway competant shots once they know you're there, and Splinter Cell made it so half-assing the stealth meant you didn't unlock the good stuff until later. Though Blacklist also doesn't really have good shooting so you're not incentivised to go loud.
I like how Ubisoft seems to give more of a fuck about the series than Konami. I need to go take my antidepressants.
Games...games have changed
