Please, make magic something VERY hard and complicated to have and use.

Magic should be a thing used by who really worked hard to obtain and master it, not something that "drop" from a monster and "poof", the player now knows how to cast a huge meteor.
Make it hard to learn and obtain. Like solve random generated puzzles, explore extremely hard dungeons, decipher random generated Runebooks and so on.
Same thing with item enchanting.
Strong magic should be hard to obtain but you should have to grind heaps to be able to cast a simple healing spell or weak attack!
Yep, but still something VERY limited, like fire arrows and light spells for dark rooms...
I'd like to think magic in Ruin would be similar to guns in Rust in the aspect of OBTAINING them. Instead of finding a revolver in a crate at a gas station you'd find a weak spellbook that can cast little balls of arkane.
Or instead of finding an M249 after taking down the heli you'd take down the dragon, or similar monster to find a really powerful spell.
