Reiko’s “Trap Harem” refers to a controversy surrounding allegations that an /r9k/ poster on 4chan associated with the Discord handle Reiko#3333 convinced various young men to take hormone therapy pills and become traps According to the allegations, Reiko forced several /r9k/ users into his “harem” by persuading them to share nude pictures of themselves after they had taken the hormone therapy pills to prove they were taking the drug. These were subsequently used to dox and blackmail the victims.

Mistake number one is sharing a photo of yourself in 4chan on any context, literally all of this could have been avoided if people weren't baited into giving themselves away.

Alternatively they may have possibly been safe if they took photos of themselves with masks and in places that cannot be identified by objects, as well as with removing all EXIF info.

There was a creepypasta-ish greentext on 4chan about someone who was basically kept as a trap slave in a cage-like thing and was forced to take hormones in exchange for food/money I believe, it is most unfortunate to see that this idea may have been implemented in real life.

I'll be upfront, I can see the demonization of transgender people.

But traps, especially in their inception in Japan, are literal insult characitures. Its similiar to Futa shit; there's nothing empowering or welcome and I've noticed through experience that people who go down those specific routes in large part end up doing some insanely dumb shit(the shitshow that was the Weirdest Boner thread comes to mind).

If, what is said is true about /r9k, these are not men or women who feel like they're gender queer or maybe transgender. These are lonely people so desperate for positive human attention that they're easy to manipulate into changing who they are. That's not healthy, and that epitimizes why I hate the Trap meme to begin with. Traps, in general were never designed with positive connotations and people latched them on without realizing that this shit would go south quickly.

tbh "traps" are quite literally, traps, considering the term's origin. It's mostly talking about character that are deliberately drawn as androgynous in manga/anime, which shock people when they learn the truth, hence they're a trap. It's only later when people start applying the term to real life person which related the term to all those actual mental problems.

Traps aren't transgendered and they're not insult characters most of the time they're joke characters or fetish bait. Stop getting mad at something that's not what you think it is. Japan has a widely different few on sexuality then we do if I remember correctly.
