Thats absolutely terrible, I feel bad for the guy.

all jokes aside, this is pretty terrible and I hope they can help him out
There are ways to get around this but he's essentially going to have learn to "hear" by literal feel and then spend more time after that syncing that to the specific songs, so basically leaning to do live venues all over again from the beginning, without sound.
Huey Lewis is going to become a reverse daredevil and acquire the ability to visually see audio waves.
thats some really bad news
What a sadness.. I've always hoped Huey would be on of those guys who go on forever, A true party band..
I wonder if he can get the same kind of thing going that Brian Johnson from AC/DC did, he also had pretty much total hearing loss but has taken to the stage a few times since getting a treatment of some sort. Hearing loss is a terrifying thing, which is why I always wear earplugs at live shows and when I play on stage, regardless of how much people take the piss. I'd rather keep my hearing thanks.
One guy I went to a Slayer show with didn't have hearing protection and we were stood right in front of the PA stack on stage left. My hearing was fine the next day because I wore earplugs. He didn't and couldn't hear properly for a week. Once the damage is done, that's it, it never comes back and you're stuck with permanent damage.
Here's hoping that Huey Lewis manages to get something sorted so he can keep touring.
