I'd be livid too.
I want to feel for them but they opened up a portal to a dimension of exclusively shit ruled by a greater daemon of faecomancy and convinced him to scourge our mortal plane with the aveo so I'm a little torn here
Absolutely brilliant
They did that shit so fast.
Korean labor unions are notoriously greedy and hard to deal with in a almost militant fashion so hopefully GM pulling out will teach them a valuable lesson about not biting the hand that feeds you.
Korean work culture is also incredibly fucking toxic like the United States or Japan's. Workers standing up for themselves is a rare sight in all of these countries and when they make a show of solidarity against authority people like you come and call them "entitled", reinforcing the toxic work culture.
GM's profit reserves are well-cushioned and yet they denied their workers, the people doing everything for them a highly demanded and customary holiday bonus. The workers are hardly in the wrong here; they didn't hurt anyone and replacing the desks and chairs and whatnot is of negligible cost. Like are you seriously shilling for GM right now? "The hand that feeds you" is some pretty fucking insidious shit to say. I'm not going to treat the business I work for as a benefactor if they treat me like shit.
It doesn't matter when their next door neighbor costs 10 times less for the same job and has very little benefits. Though I do feel as I came off a bit wrong so Ill leave this: Unions of course are by no means bad and I would happily join one in most cases however when they get too big such as in SK and shit like handing out memberships exclusively to a select few, and have a large political domain that they happily abuse is when Unions stop being unions and start sounding more like racketeering. I don't like being a corporate shill but at the same time If GM leaves the whole city is going to be fucked and I'd rather everyone have a chance at a decent wage rather than the few getting paid triple and forcing the company out. Regardless of my opinion I highly recommend looking deeper into this than a jalopnik article.
The hand that feeds you. (JUUUUST enough to keep your head above the water, but not enough to let you dare speak out for a life preserver for fear of being forced to drown)
Good thing the hand decided to not feed them and just gave them a vague pat on the head instead
