I've fainted a few times and it really feels like you just lose the time in between. You almost jump from the last moment of consciousness to the first moment of regaining consciousness. If you're in the same position when you wake up, then it probably isn't the jarring. The confusing part is when you, say, faint, and wake up lying on the floor. It's take a second to realize where you are.
