So yes i know that face punch is trying the best they can to work on the game but a lot of people can't play because the game is hard to run. I believe that they could simply delete the water under the map.
If you no-clip under the map you will notice that there is water all under the map. I think this can cause a lot of lag. Of course i am not a dev and it is probably harder then it would seem but it is just an idea that I want to throw out there.
well they do that so they can just place water on the island on top not just have to trace water all the way around every single different island

I have noticed that if you F1 and look at the log you get items (like the bolt action rifle for example) that are rendered multiple times,
so you have a whole "page" listing the things that you are using that are being rendered repeatedly multiple times and i think this might have something to do with the lag, its just a rough guess
i think i have the same issue, i play with a 1070 and if i take HQ gear and weapons i have drops down to 45 FPS. Normaly i have 90FPS and play in 3840*2160 to run Rust in better grafics.
The textures just flicker so much in low resolutions. its a bit better in 4k. All AA filters are "shit" sry. Washy, in motion it flickers strongly.
