Along with the possibility of the Piss tape existing, I imagine the Russians got god knows how much dirt against him, like "Career Ending" "FBI knocking down your door" type dirt. Wouldn't surprise me if Trump is doing this out of fear of what the Oligarchs got against him.

TL;DR when Trump announced the sanctions and diplomat expulsions against Russia back in March, he was assured by staff that he was only matching the EU's moves 1:1. He was adamant that the USA not be seen as taking the spearhead of the western push against Russia. When places like Germany and France expelled only 4 diplomats and the USA expelled 60, Trump blew up with profanity.
So it's no surprise that he's going to slam the brakes on any further moves to anger Papa Putin. He called out Russia and Putin by name, but those are just words and he was trying to act tough.
Ironically, America's show of strength was ultimately so impotent that it demonstrated to the world that it's a limp dick under President Alf Pussygrabber.

When it comes to sanctioning Russia over their support of the Syrian government, the US doesn't really have the moral high ground here. Should other countries be sanctioning us for our support of Saudi Arabia?
