oh. but that was like the primary reason i liked black ops
And there's the nail in the coffin.
After the absolute disaster BO III's campaign was, I'm glad they aren't making one for IIII.
The sources, who asked for anonymity, said that as Black Ops 4’s release date approached, it became evident that development on the single-player campaign wouldn’t be completed.
The source described an emphasis on cooperative modes as a potential stand-in for the typical single-player campaign experience.
I would definitely rather them scrap the campaign rather than put out something unfinished. More co-op is always good, too.
I have a feeling that it's less this and more so something about microtransactions. You know, those things that are "wildly popular" in multiplayer but pointless in super short singleplayer?
Well now hold on, just because it doesn't have a traditional campaign doesn't mean it won't have any resemblance of a story mode. The way the Zombies storyline has been going with treyarch puts them in a pretty good position to make a well-defined coop story mode.
Could be optimism but frankly treyarch has always nailed their cod games when they started doing BLOPS. Their last pass at a singleplayer fell flat and didn't really resonate with me for it's narrative. They could be seeing their weakness and working with their strengths instead
This is just a rumor, for now.
Pretty much this
Black Ops probably had the better single player campaigns. Shame 3 shat the bed, but 1 and 2 were great.
THE NUMBERS MASON
I mean, why bother? It's already been tested and approved that people will pay $60 MSRP for a multiplayer game.

I guess this might be why
useless source tho
I dont think they are, they have leaked other COD info in the past.
I always liked COD Campaigns though :*(
tbh i could see myself enjoying that type of game with cod's arcadey controls and gunfights, though admittedly the low ttk would be a pretty big issue
Well, the only reason I was even slightly interested was where the fuck they were gonna go after III's ending, now I'm not so sure.
If you are going to strip the single player content, you'd expect them to adjust the price, but they won't.
GET ACROSS THE STREET, MITCHELL
I don't know why they'd include all of the previous Black Ops game's story cutscenes n' such in the teaser trailer but.. who knows.
I don't get why people shit all over the 3. The twists/hints were great and when i finally realized what the hell was going on it was like a revelation. It takes balls to do a story like that in a AAA game, its one of the main reasons why I preferred bl3 campaign to 2.
But the campaigns are part of the reason I buy FPS games. No campaign no sale.
Activision. Stop.
"Let's take the story out of the best story-driven CoD timeline/series we have. The only continual story across 3 games that was worth paying attention to"
Activision. Why.
I kind of wish Zombies would branch off into its own thing.
4 games, world at war is a prequel to black ops
I was hoping they were going to do something new with the campaign.
Like stalker. Or like the FPS that borrowed some ideas from mount and blade.
Silly me.
I've never played a CoD campaign, I play them for the multiplayer. But I know how much people liked the campaigns in Blops so it's a shame for them. I hope it doesn't translate into less people in multiplayer.
If they still have a movement system like in Blops III I'm definitely interested. I wonder if the battle royale mode will have the same movement.
Black Ops 1 and 2 campaigns were solid, Blops 1 being possibly the best campaign after Cod4
Shame but I'd rather nothing than dog shit
I can't wait to pay 60 bucks + 50 bucks (rehash maps) season pass for a MP only game.
I liked the campaigns, was fun for some brain dead and action filled shooting.
They're different developers and published by entirely different companies?
yeah I really hope they'll go the way of "Games as a service" and ship free map updates and only monetize cosmetics. If this game is multiplayer only and has a Battle Royale game mode, it would only make sense. Plus Blops3 had mapping tools for PC, they just released them way too late.
I think CoD on PC could easily have an active modding community and community servers running custom maps like TF2 and CS.
The biggest hurdle for that to happen is that it's Activision after all... They'll release another CoD next year anyway and wouldn't want the devs to keep updating Blops4.
