A guy in face punch 1 admitted to d dosing us so he could raid us and chuck us offline, we then started to both lag out but didn't manage to throw us offline, he also got mine and a friends personal details,
i managed to get screenshots off this and as we are suffering with ALOT of ddos attacks on face punch 1 which is happening at least once a day now something like this should be dealt with.
Would staff like me to post screenshots in this thread or is this not a ban able offense ?
Whenever you decide your going to accuse someone of doing something it's best to actually provide evidence from the get go rather than just make a claim and say you'll provide evidence later. And a screenshot of chat that says "im gonna ddos u" doesn't quite cut the cake, you're going to need to provide more details. Staff can already see when servers get ddos'd, so if you can provide information that coincides with what they see that would be helpful.
How much more proof can i give?
After this countdown we both started to lag and im guessing the server did aswell.

How can stuff like this be allowed in a game like this, Making people feel unsafe is clearly wrong not that this bum scared me just stupid how people are allowed to ruin other peoples fun by ddosing and threatening to get peoples personal information.

Because as I told you a chat log is not enough proof. If he did indeed ddos'd a server he wouldn't be able to connect to it. There's a chance he may have just Ddos'd you, but unless you would like to pull up connection records from your router and then prove that his IP was connected there's not much that can be done.
People say they're going to ddos whatever all the time, unless you have actual data to prove that it was them and not someone else or pure coincidence that your internet shit at the same time there is literally nothing that can be done. Facepunch can see when a server is being ddos'd, and they can also see who/what is trying to connect to the server. If you cannot provide specific information such as IP's then you're kind of SOL.

This is exactly why people get away with hacks and ddos every popular server its because you cant actually be asked to investigate situations like this that could potentially be some nutter who dose actually get our information!
If your staff this is a poor response and you should be trying to protect peoples identity in any case!

You are asking people to investigate YOUR router. Like I said, staff can see when servers are being Ddos'd and have all the relivant information from that. What they don't get, unless the person is an idiot, is things like their IP and account because they almost never use their actual computer to do the ddos attack. A ddos isn't something you can do with just 1 computer, it requires many computers and connections to flood the server with connection requests until the server stops accepting requests.
I am not staff, I'm a mod who literally has nothing to do with rust or it's development. I am trying to help you so that you can provide more information, but if you can't/ don't know how then I cannot help you. I'm not a programmer, I'm not a computer engineering, I'm a guy who volunteers his time to keep the forum from being flooded with spam and illegal content. I try and help where I can, but like I said I cannot pull up additional information for you. If all you have is screenshots there's not much that can be done, and If you didn't file a ingame report there's not much else to link his account to any actual attack to the server.
