https://apnews.com/bfb5ad674cec4f90b75b5f790d30eb89/McConnell-won't-allow-vote-to-bill-to-protect-Mueller WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he won’t be holding a vote on legislation to protect special counsel Robert Mueller from being fired by President Donald Trump, essentially killing the bipartisan bill. McConnell tells Fox News that the measure’s “not necessary” despite a push by Republican and Democratic senators to bring it forward. McConnell says, “We’ll not be having this on the floor of the Senate.” He says there’s “no indication” Trump will fire Mueller — and even if Congress was able to pass the legislation, he doubts the president will sign it. McConnell says, “I don’t think he should fire Mueller, and I don’t think he’s going to, so this is a piece of legislation that’s not necessary, in my judgment.” Pasted the whole article since it's very short. "No indication" Trump will fire Mueller even though he's literally tried to in the past, ugh
McConnell is human garbage. Hes genuinely one of the worst people in the world
Fuck you, McConnell, you spineless worm.
"and even if Congress was able to pass the legislation, he doubts the president will sign it." i mean that part at least sounds like a pretty fair point, but otherwise yeah I never thought this would get through anyways lol.
Nice opinion Mitch, glad we don't get to see the opinion of everyone else in Congress because your opinion is so fucking amazing
Let's hope they find something on that slimy worm to send him to prison with, too.
Bullshit.
If they get enough votes, the dipshit doesn't get a choice in the matter, he won't be able to veto it.
McConnell is the one that looks like a turtle right? I've lost track of who is who in this crazy world.
He’s a sniveling, conniving traitor. Like, fuck’s sake, how much effort is it to pass a “don’t fire mueller” bill? So much so that “eh don’t needta pass it cuz he ain’t gonna fire him anyhow” is an acceptable excuse? Fuck you, Mitch; if your indifference gets Mueller fired, I will make a sign just for you when I protest your fat ass.
...but, he can choose to just ignore any ruling, like he did with the Veto-Proof Russia sanctions, which nobody seems to care about!
The guy who is next in line to control the investigation, Solicitor General Noel Francisco seems to be a trump loyalist based on his asking the Supreme Court to give the president the ability to fire more government officials. All that's between Mueller and him is Rosenstein.
Fair point though, the president wouldn't sign any legislation that protects Mueller of course they could override but the GOP dosen't wanna call Trump out lol
The GOP has fully embraced Trump's campaign to topple our democracy and our rule of constitutional law. Their official Twitter account, in the days since the Cohen raid, has launched an all-out assault on the character of investigators and FBI officials former and current. The GOP knows that the only way to maintain power is to seize upon the extremism that their state propaganda machine at Fox News has spent the last decade stoking. They're putting all their chips on the hope that they can piss off enough of their base with wild conspiracies, hateful rhetoric, and general insanity to topple the system that seeks to undo them before it completes its task. This is a critical point in American history, and everybody should be paying close attention. Either Trump is imprisoned and the GOP is devastated by the investigation into their corruption, or our democracy will die in all but name, with manufactured right wing extremism being its executioner.
Bitch McConnell at this point has demonstrated himself an enemy of the American people and a complicit actor in what amounts to a coup. Nobody is above the law. Not even the President.
Elected officials propose a bill. One politician is allowed to vote no on it and prevent it from even being heard. How the fuck is that even democracy? Even a Republic should be better than that.
https://puu.sh/A5lSJ.png How i feel about McConnell atm.
What would happen if this bill was passed, and Trump refused to sign it? I guess it just helps to force the issue
I used to hear stories of how corrupt governments were in other countries and think, "Maybe I don't like everything the president does, but at least we're not that bad." We're that bad. We're a corrupt shithole country. We should ban immigration from the US to itself.
As horrendous as our "democracy" has become, it's not nearly the level of some other countries, thankfully. Don't undermine the massive injustices abroad by believing we are at that level, because really as bad as it is we are still capable of coming out of this. The same can't be said for some other countries.
He's 100% complicit in the Russia thing. There's no other explanation of his behavior.
We are the point where either our system of government proves itself stronger than the unified assault from Congress AND the head of the Executive, or we will BECOME as bad as countries like Russia in terms of our electoral integrity and equality of justice.
That's true of some places, but the illusion that "the bones of our country are sturdy" is gone. We are susceptible.
No country is sacred.
The ground that McConnell touches becomes dead and inhospitible
Right? It's like his excuse is "Why bother stopping over-reach if the president will just try and over-reach anyway?" What a spineless cunt.
This is all so that he doesn't have to pressure trump into passing the bill, just a sick effort to save face for the man who is literally trying to turn this country into a dictatorship.
fuck his judgement, he didn't think trump would fire any of those wonderful nominees that he ramrodded through, and he thought every single one of those judges that withdrew from consideration were perfectly fit for the job, or how he judged that a supreme court seat should be kept vacant for over a year, and then the bar lowered so they could clear it. Oh and lets not forget who's idea it was to waste all of last year on a budget reconciliation bill to gut obamacare and then let it expire. His judgement has been in question for a long time.
Living definition of old crusty slimeball politician right here.
Why is the least popular senator in America also the most powerful?
