BattleBots is a competitive combat sport in which teams pit 200+ pound machines armed with high speed weaponry against each other to the death (or up to 3 minutes before being decided by judges). Battlebots has been on TV since 1999, and a season 8 has recently been filmed, set to air in May of 2018.

Robot Wars is BattleBots's british counterpart. Conceptually similar, though the show incorporates deadly titans that patrol the arena known as House Robots to cause extra mayhem. Different, but just as great. Sadly it was cancelled by the BBC after a 3 season reboot, but season 10 was easily one of the best robot series of all time

King of Bots is the recently launched Chinese counterpart of BattleBots, showcasing international and Chinese builders alike. Currently releasing a "season 1.5" online. Season 1 was a great debut, so expect more to come.

Robogames is the largest non-televised tournament in the sport, featuring many legendary roboteers from around the world. They usually take place near the end of April over a 3 day span.
There should also be a tournament or two in your area, so check around.
Where can I watch these shows?
Battlebots season 8 is going to air on the Science Channel weekly. You can find old episodes of Battlebots here and the fights of the newer seasons uploaded to ABC's official Youtube Channel.
Robot Wars no longer airs - for now... You can find older seasons of the show
here, and the BBC has recapped editions of each episode of the most recent season on their official Youtube Channel.
KOB can be viewed in full on
the youtube channel of its host channel with 1.5 being available on this website i think sorry i don't speak Chinese.
Robogames will be streaming on their Twitch Channel where you can find highlights of last year.

Been thinking of building a bot with my GF and a friend. Thinking of going for a ±13kg weight class.
Damn, I think these fights are way more brutal than the old days of flipper bots when I use to watch.
There's nothing against the rules against autonomous robots for most tournaments but there's a strict list of requirements to ensure it's clear that it's deactivated when it should be for safety reasons. To be honest no one tried autonomous for this reason as well as the fact that an AI can't account for all the factors of a battle quite like a human driver.
A seperate remote kill switch that cuts-off the battery would do fine I guess.
Chomp actually tracks its targets independently for its hammer weapon

Some of the season three roster is up on the official website. Seems to be updating over time with more.
A few highlights:
Blacksmith, Witch Doctor, Hypershock, Rotator are all redesigned and look amazing.
Double Jeopardy is the first robot in Battlebots history to feature actual projectiles as its primary weapon.
Monsoon and Predator are made by the teams behind Robot Wars's Concussion and Foxic respectively.
Battle Royale with Cheese is best Burgerbot

You forget how big the bots are till you see some one stanfing next to them.
It starts tonight (May 11) at 8pm Eastern on Discovery.. Get hyped.
BattleBots
IIRC you're required to have a full-on power disconnect anyway, I've seen some bots lose their matches because they had their disconnects slapped out of them.
Okay wow that was exactly what you want for a show about robot combat. Just enough filler to get to the fight and excellent fights through and through.
Tombstone getting the KO through high centering Minotaur on a tear in the box Tombstone created was an absolutely amazing way to finish the match off.
Never seen anything like the Tombstone vs Minotaur match to be honest.. just when you think every crazy thing has happened, something even crazier happens. It was one heck of a way to finish up the first episode.
The pacing was really good, banter was really good..and the lineup of bots looks really good, too.
Huge was the most interesting thing I've seen in a while.. there's been some other things sort of like it, but not in the recent relaunch seasons. Plastic-y wheels.. bold design.
If the rest of the season is this good it's going to be a great ride.
Man, didn't know this was still going. I remember loving watching BattleBots all the time with my Dad when I was kid. Seems like this season is the perfect time to get back into it.
Vanquish holy fuck man that was brutal. I've seen KOs like that in the antweight division but never in the heavyweights.
Minotaur vs Blacksmith from S1? I think of the new series was really good too.
Darnit I was out of town for episode 2 and when I went to tune into episode 3 on Friday I caught the last 10 minutes/ last fight of the episode 2 rerun. Didn't realize they were playing it before the new episode, and it's impossible to find online!
Did I miss a lot?
I think HUGE is becoming my favorite bot. It's such a weird design, and yet it keeps winning.
Rip warhead's warhead
The fight nights are over now, which means they've just cut to the top 16 bots. From here it's 3 more episodes of single elimination, in which only one will be declared winner.
The top 16 are, in seeded order.
Tombstone (duh)
Bronco
Bite Force (note that these 3 have been in the top 4 in the previous two seasons as well.)
Minotaur
Sawblaze
Icewave
Yeti
Son of Whyachi
Lock-Jaw (in here because of the "Desperado Tournament" midway through the season, which was a mini eight-bot tourney to assure the winner a top 16 spot.)
Whiplash
RotatoR
Monsoooooooooon
Witch Doctor
HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE
War Hawk (winner of the vertical spinner rumble, beating out Brutus and End Game)
Bombshell (won the 6-way last chance rumble, despite being 0-4, immobile for most of the fight, and eding out over fan-fave DUCK! (yes everyone else is mad too)).
Get hype!

Battlebots has been Greenlit for a season 4

Live event will be hosted from April 12th to the 22nd!
Really hope they keep the Fight Night format from last season. They finally got the formula right (compared to past seasons) by cutting all the drama and backstory out and just focusing on the fights and robots themselves.
Looking forward to it!
Awesome news!!
I don't mind if the new seasons is just Tombstone beating everyone again
Chaos 2 is overrated and Tornado is an actual piece of shit.
Hey, I had some money and a flexible schedule. I need to get my fix in.

It's only 2 days of the 1.5 weeks of filming, but hey it's something. I missed out on Season 3 filming so I've been itching for some Battlebots for a few years now.
those go for only $23?
each day is 2 showings that run about $30, but there's a coupon for $10 off weekday showtimes, so $23 per showing after fees. I got 4 timeslots over 2 full weekdays.
Very cool, I hope it's a great time. Maybe we'll all see you on tv.
Those are awesome ticket prices. If a cross country flight wasn't so much darn money I'd be on board.
Oh boy.
This fucking thing was just confirmed for the show by their team.

I'm kind of surprised this is legal.
