Thank you for giving this thread a confrontational tone from the word go.
Because as we all know, Europe is one nation following one government
"No one will ever be able to obtain a gun and use it for illicit means ever" ~ gun control advocates probably
Doesn't the report say the weapons are in danger of breaking?
I wonder if it would be worse if these terroristic people could just buy guns as easily as some states. I also wonder if giving the Europeans more guns is a viable solution
Or it means the criminals are becoming more competent and the law enforcement gotta learn to adapt.
Yanks like you seem to no near-fuck all about European affairs.
>An “arms race” between criminal groups in Europe risks making it easier for terrorists to obtain high-powered, military grade firearms, a report has warned. Lets add another party to the arms race!
While they don't, the EU does have very strict gun control measures that all members have to adhere to.
Not sure how better gun laws would prevent them being smuggled into the EU. If anything it seems like the solution is to increase and improve border searches and border patrols.
You know the gun laws are there for civilians not to kill each other ? Smuggling is very much police work.
Shoe's on the other foot now eh?
It is incredibly easy to build weapons these days. You can buy most of the parts online without issue. For example, AR15's are famous for being so modular. You can build one for about $800 right now. Probably even cheaper than that now.
What? I point out that the guy knows near-fuck all about European affairs because he referring to European gun laws (this literally isn't a thing, not even EU law is all-encompassing European law - the only law that applies to all European states on weapons is international law) and your response is "haha now it's your turn to have gun problems". It's telling that your only apparent response to the mention of a gun crisis in Europe is this childish tit-for-tat "your turn" bs. I hope you enjoy being in your ivory tower while you can - I don't imagine it'll be long until the next school shooting and that tower comes crashing back down to reality.
Indeed and I would hope the EU member nations heed this warning and take steps to prevent the spread of illegal military grade firearms.
To be honest I think it's less that these laws ever did anything and more that people are recently more inclined to break them for a variety of reasons. It is and always has been extremely easy to smuggle firearms around Europe - but in the past that was done by black market collectors who didn't want to deal with paperwork rather than terrorists.
No need to shout! I can hear you perfectly fine with the lack of gun violence not going around.
Holy crap man way to extrapolate information there. All I was pointing out was that normally it's the europosters on here judging the US's gun laws with Americans on the defense whereas in this case it's the other way round. No where was I saying anything to the effect of "hurr durr enjoy ur shootins" or anything like that.
Lot of the guns are smuggled in from the Balkans, Ukraine, and now Syria. The homemade gun scene is not really strong in Europe outside of maybe Poland and Germany. As mentioned by others previosly, back then it was mostly done by collectors who just wanted to have really rare pieces for their personal collections, now the marketplace is being taken up by people who are making gangs that effectively could lockdown certain areas from police support by simply being armed. One thing worth noting though is that Europe for the most part is more heavily effected by IEDs/Handgrenades, Acid attacks, among other nasty routines. People don't use guns in crimes as often because it carries a heavier sentence. When you brand someone with pipe cleaner, its a mark for life, but the law doesn't see it that way sadly.
Both of these aren't necessary, as a European who's pro-gun this really doesn't help. Europes gun laws have got nothing to do with the massive amount of arms that surge in through conflicts in the East.
This guy is on point. This seems to be pretty much about just criminals abusing loophopes and acquiring blank firing weapons, and such which have been rendered unusable. Since, you know, other avenues of obtaining have gotten extremely limited. I can't see the future but I can imagine there's going to be some legislative changes or at least those related to enforcement, to further crack down on weapons. Nothing about shoe being on the other foot here.
The Americans really humiliated themselves on this thread, didn't they ?
Good job I have a gun to keep me safe, sure it's orange and shoots BB's. But a deterrence nonetheless for all these gun toting maniacs running around rural Scotland
The article's claims about 'reactivated' guns make no sense. The rules for a gun to qualify as deactivated in every European country I know of render it practically unrepairable, unless they are using old deacs.
let me know when Europe starts having school shootings every few weeks like the US
