The screens are exactly the same as the originals (most come from the same manufacturer), this is a direct, intentional thing, not a third party piece malfunctioning.

Apple brings their obsession for closed source to a ludicrous degree.
So essentially bricking a phone if they don't get the money for the fix with the reason "We want what's best for the customer."
"We want to make sure our products work by making them not work anymore"
On a related note I've got a Moto G5 Plus and the power button broke off, go ahead and see what cunts they've been repairing repairing that.
