Artist, DJ and producer Tim Bergling, a.k.a. Avicii, died this afternoon in Oman, according to a statement from his rep. He was 28.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii,”
the statement reads. “He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this
Friday afternoon local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and
we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
He had retired from live performing in 2016, citing health reasons.
He had suffered from health problems for several years, including acute
pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking. He had his gallbladder
and appendix removed in 2014.

Holy shit, 28? That's too damn young for someone.
It always sucks when someone dies so young.
Fucking sucks man.
jesus christ, this is awful. I knew he was dealing with health problems that lead him to leave music but i never thought he would have died this soon
I didn't even know he had health problems. This is so sudden. Rest in peace.
What the fuck I didn't know he had health problems
That's tragic!
Wtf had no idea he was sick in the first place, let alone that badly ill...
What the hell? This came out of nowhere.
my heart, we lost a legend
I'm shocked.
His songs were somehow so motivating, he was definetly talented. RIP
Fuck way too young. RIP
RIP, that's so unexpected.
I first known about for his "Levels" song, I think it was posted here? Really didn't expect this.
I don't wanna be a downer, and maybe it's just because I haven't grown up enough, but it really makes me fucking sad and terrified to know that anyone I love and even myself could die of some bullshit randomly. The worst part is that I don't believe in any life after death, so it's just so sad...

didn't really like his older stuff but his early stuff was amazing. rip
I wouldn't be that worried about something like this happening. It's pretty out of the ordinary and came out of what sounds like serious excessive drinking problems.
Be aware of your health and treat your body right, because you only have one. That being said, even this instance seems super rare and it's fucked up that anyone goes this young. RIP.
Its not exactly random, according to the story he had a bunch of long term health issues brought on by excessive drinking and the like. He was probably living a pretty intense lifestyle and a body can only take so much.
goddamn, out of nowhere
rip man
I found about this two minutes ago because ray sipe made a video about it
"He had suffered from health problems for several years, including acute pancreatitis, in part due to excessive drinking."
Now, I know it only says "in part", and doesn't clarify how big of a contributor this is, but he was only 28 and was drinking so excessively as to contribute this sort of damage to his body? Holy crap.
Holy fuck this was the last thing I expected to hear today.
Saw him live back in 2012.
Fuck, this came out of nowhere.
Aww, shame. I enjoyed some of his stuff. His "The Island" remix wasn't great (and I'm all about finding good "The Island" remixes), but Levels was pretty iconic - I remember when it was used in the Wreck-It Ralph trailer.
It wouldn't be that outrageous to suggest he used other substances but they probably don't know that for sure and wouldn't want to make any guesses in the story announcing his death.
if he'd been known to use pills i wonder if this is another case of unknowingly taking fentanyl
From what I understand, acute pancreatitis isn't something that kills you.
If I remember right, he wasn't very fond of just being in the spotlight and fame, and was a withdrawn kind of person. I imagined the excessive drinking could have been due to depression and the stress of fame.
Damn, I really loved Avicii's music.
