Don't the years that end in 00 count as part of the previous century? She must have been the last person born in the 19th century if so
whenever i see articles about the world's oldest people, i always have to wonder if there are people that are way past the oldest age (in this case 117) that just haven't been found yet
My body isn't anywhere near healthy enough to make it to be CLOSE to the oldest person, but I LOVE the concept of being the oldest person alive.
It means that every single human being on the planet that was alive at the time of your birth, died while you outlived them. How metal is that?
i imagine it'd be kind of lonely. though with 160 descendants hopefully she had a lot of family keeping her company
Just two days ago, a 119 year old guy died on my country. Couldnt hit the records since the legal papers were old and could be wrong, but family, friends and generations knew the guy was at least that age or older.
Its difficult to say who is the oldest, by that mark, this guy was 2 years older than the oldest person alive, so, who knows.
Makes you wonder what the real oldest ever person is/was. Officially that French lady of 122, but people have claimed as much as 146 without concrete evidence.
Yea, pretty sure similar cases have happened before.
Talking about those old people always reminds me that the oldest German guy (112) lives in my hometown, not a big town really.
Seen him a few times, he is surprisingly fit for being 112. Lives mostly alone but family is coming over daily.
It can only be imagined what that must be like knowing that 100% of everybody that has ever lived in the years before you are dead. That you are the last of your "time". Some truly existential dread shit.
Either that or a sense of satisfaction that you got to live an extraordinary length of time. And are unique.
