Stop sign is still a stop sign.
Well...yeah, don't run stop signs. And especially don't flip people off when they honk at you.
It's kinda weird how when you start driver's ed, you go from 'wow, cyclists are fucking horrible' to 'wow, I was just as bad'.
I like how he let the other ones go and only gave the guy who tried arguing a ticket
Real talk sports cyclists who do their interval training or whatever on city streets are assholes. Apparently a fucking bell is just too much weight or drag to even include, and there's nothing questionable about mowing down a bike lane with 40km/h. There's a popular route going due north from Copenhagen and it's so used by these assholes that they've put up signs every couple of kilometers saying "Remember to use your bell!". I love cycling, and I don't mind them biking on more secluded roads, but people don't do car racing on public streets and accordingly you shouldn't do bike races in unsuitable locations.
Cyclists fuckin bug me because, where I live, they just hog up the roads going slow as hell and never pull to the side to try and help you pass them. They act very entitled to be on the roads.
They wanna act like cars and say they deserve the space/respect of a car (which they do, by law), but they don't follow the rules of the road like cars and get mad when someone calls them out on it.
We have a lot of these guys here. Cycling is great but I fear that if I take it up I'll become a cunt, too
I think the issue is that anyone who wants to bike in the US has a death wish. Here in Denmark everyone bikes, so A) the infrastructure is way better (you're not sharing the road with cars) and B) Everyone isn't clad in spandex.
Even in Canada we have bikelanes in our city centres, but outside them it's no man's land. People on one particular street in my old suburb would be cycling along as they do, but it's a 2-lane, very winding, and huge busses and trucks/SUVs take it. Often the bus has to slow behind them until there's a straight away (sometimes 10 minutes) just to pass them because the cyclists are too proud to just pull over for a sec and let the bus pass. We have no choice but to share the road with people who don't know/care how the road works

Bicycling should be banned outside of neighborhoods and anyone who breaks that rule gets beat with their bike toll it breaks.
I ride a 50cc scooter in a very hilly area. If I'm going up a steep hill and I see a car behind me I'll indicate and pull over so the dude behind me can go at a comfortable 50km/h rather than 35. Not hard to be a dick.
There's a massive difference between Tour-de-France-cosplaying sports cyclists who care not for right of way and simple laws, and who entirely ignore bike lanes 'cause Lance Armstrong ain't ever done ride on no bike lane he ain't! and then people who use bike as a mode of transport.
I fucking hate these kind of sport cyclists, especially when they're in a group. Every time I encounter them, they're just a rude and disrespectful to the other people on the road.
Have been cussed out by one myself, when I was driving my 50cc moped in the morning on a designated road shared by cyclists and mopeds. The road is usually
rather busy in the morning, because of groups of cyclist going to school. The wannabe pro cyclist was driving so close behind me (so he could go faster (drafting?)) I couldn't see
him in my mirrors. When I wanted to go past a group of cyclist, the guy wanted to go past me at the same time so he came out of nowhere and we almost got into a collision. Luckily
I could brake fast enough, but that didn't stop the guy trying to blame me for it. This happened about 10 years ago, but it still pisses me off so much when I think about it.
I'm glad the one guy in the video trying to argue got a ticket though.
I always let people pass me. A car's bigger and heavier so it has the right of way. Cyclists who feel entitled are the worst.
Dude, you're supposed to be subtle when you wanna play "spot the American".
my rule is, unless otherwise specified, the vehicle that has the least ability to stop has the right of way.
But your rule isn't law. Just follow traffic laws. That's literally all there is to it.
That's why I said unless otherwise specified. (as in traffic laws)
As a Dutch person this hostility towards cyclists amazes me. I've never had any troubles with even sports cyclists riding in packs. Maybe because we have a proper infrastructure set up.
Apologies! Thought you meant more obvious "otherwise specified" means such as signs in the vicinity.
Man, the early episodes of South Park didn't age all that well. All Cartman did was to spew out random shallow phrases that were easy to quote.
But this just promotes unsafe behavour on the streets by rewarding people with shitty, falling apart bicycles.
I take up the roadbike during the summers to get my stamina in check, last time I was ran over by a guy who "assumed cyclists never follow rules anyway" while I do try to follow them whenever I can..
It's mutual from my experience.
Cyclist are the bane of my existence when the only fishing spots are on sidewalks next to ponds/lakes. They have a nasty habit of trying to kick your rods over if you are setup for catfish or carp. What's worse is they'll even do that too kids rods. Had it happen when I was with my niece, and she started balling her eyes out. Its one of the reasons I seldom fish lakes or ponds anymore if I'm not on a boat.
Please don't associate the rest of us with him.
Cyclists are basically trash rolling down the road on two wheels, I legitimately like the homeless dude who bikes around town as transportation more because he stays off of the road as much as possible while minding his own shit.
Stay out of the middle of a road marked for 50 miles an hour if you're not planning on going that fast, and if you do decide to try for it, fuck me, don't ride down the middle of the road and start flipping the bird when people pass by you closer than your comfortable with so they don't have to be stuck behind you clogging up traffic for the next three miles. If you're going on a road designed for automobiles but you expect the cars to cater to your whims you're a complete fuckhead. Slap your bike back on the roof of your prius with a 3 FEET OVER PLEASE LOOK TWICE SAVE A LIFE placard off the back thats next to your local food coop sticker and fuck off to somewhere you aren't somehow simultaneously the bane of pedestrians, drivers, and the lord himself
my blood is BOILING eliminate all cyclists
Yea thats great and all but my post was clearly sarcastic.
Bikes clog up roadways and their riders are notorious for not following basic traffic laws. Traffic as a whole would functiom better without them but I honestly dont care either way.
I never understood why devlopers don't bother to clear foliage around hard turns like that. In fact, some of them plant tall bushes around there.
