I mean, I guess that's better than going to prison but just
why?
I wonder what the legal implications would be of him starting a gofundme for this would be.
I'd kind of hope he get's the money through video licencing to pay the fine but at the same time wasn't he kind of a dick on social media? The kind that uses "soyboy" as an insult and tries to be edgy?
At least this farce is over. What a fucking shitshow.
That fine is basically just a big "fuck you". Dude probably paid quadruple that in legal fees alone, and he was stuck with his thumb up his ass for two years waiting for them to end up at this conclusion.
This garbage fire is an even worse joke than the one that got him charged in the first place.
What absolute shit. So now you can be charged over a joke if the government deams it offensive? Unless you're a famous comedian ofcourse.
It must set a really great precedent that you can be fined for making fun of Nazis using a dog as a prop.
At first I had a sigh of relief seeing that he was just getting fined - even if that is a ludicrous amount for what he's done either way. But as Chex put it, he's no doubt already paid multiple times that amount during this struggle so far, his name has been dragged through the mud and he's been made an example of by sort of draconian hate speech laws. Despite dodging an unfair prison sentence no one won here, not even the judicial system.
What a shitshow.
He needs to start a gofund
I still don't get this. Even if you go out of your way to assign too much meaning to what he did, it just seems to me like turning one of their most powerful symbols into a cute joke is the ultimate middle finger to Nazism.
After the show of support he's got, he'll pay that off no problem. And after all that makes you wonder what was even the point. Reinforces my opinion that some law enforcers in this country are only out to justify their budgets because they have fuck all else to do.
Bit fascist innit?
Good to know you can get fined for quality shitposts these days, the world we live in 'eh?
Well only one other nation has tried to charge someone for making a joke out of the nazi salute by having their dog do it. [sp]Nazi Germany[/sp]
So congrats UK, you succeeded where they failed.
uk has really become a meme country recently it was in the past but now we are really going for it
The original Nazi party would have agreed.
They were evidently inspired by the dog without noticing.
I remember seeing a lot of people saying that he was going to jail, but I didn't really think it would be that ridiculous. I'm not at all happy about it though.
This shitshow was so ridiculous that it just had to end in the most ridiculous way possible, and this is still exceeded my expectations. Wow.
It's illegal to hurt someone's feelings, even indirectly?
Well that applies to *everything* so start banning
How fucking ridiculous.
I feel like this only dragged out so long because he made fun of the charge and the pricks who served it up, 2 years of dragging him through the mud and wasting his life for a fine. I was honestly expecting prison time.
Holy fucking shit that's more money that I currently have in my bank account. For an entry level edgy joke?.
Fuck. Off.
Also one of the more aggravating things I saw, were people on twitter digging up old shit against him to justify this.
Like, charge him with that then if it broke the law at any point but don't justify him being sued over a joke with it.
Speaking of justification, if you ever want a headache, read the FP thread where some people tried to justify him being found guilty of a "hate crime". It was far too common and honestly hurt to read.
No fun allowed nanny state
fucking facists
fighting fire with fire... nothing at all can go wrong lads
The comical thing, as already mentioned by somebody else, is that something akin to this happened with a Finnish man during the reign of the actual NSDAP. All though they attempted to get their medical plants to not work with said Finnish man's business, they didn't pursue him as ruthlessly as this.
Yes, the British government is less capable of taking a joke then the OG Nazis. If that doesn't illustrate everything wrong with this case, then I really don't know what would.
Clearly the UK has become an ultra-far left police state. This is the death of free speech. Soon they'll be imprisoning people for their thoughts.
Legal proceedings do just take a lot of time tbh. Though in his case it's probably a mixture of the judge in question wanting to make an example out of him for not taking it seriously (even if the charge is total shit, take is seriously kids). And the courts knowing the current government wont give a shit if they fine him.
Really doesn't help his case that he got all buddy-buddy with the leader of the (now defunct) EDL in a case about him proving he isn't a fucking Nazi though. Sometimes you just shouldn't accept help from certain people.
