So recently I came across a gun in rust. After 1.7k hours of gameplay <--- true gameplay not just logged hours (it means nothing ik ik...) I know how to use the guns, and am able to adapt to all of the new recoil changes, as I know how to use my wrist. Using said gun, I have killed plenty of people, and not only have I gotten their loot, I've gotten hackusations as well. Recently a lot of people have been calling me a hacker, like "Oh how did you know I was here??" or "I was behind a wall, hacks?". Usually I just say, "Hey thanks for comparing my skills to those of a hacker!" But this is getting more frequent. Is it just me, or is the community getting a lot more salty? I don't want this type of community, but you know, what are you gonna do, am I right?
Gimme your thoughts, has this happened to you?
;)
Tell them to F7 you, if they think you're hacking. That's what i'd do. Accusations don't fix anything, reporting suspected players will at least make EAC investigate these players. I've been playing on a BF server, and I've been killed by players using the M249 from 130m+ (they hardly missed thier shots. even when full auto). I don't accuse them, I just report them, if they get banned, then my suspicions were correct, if not, then they got excellent aim.
I'm not a pvp god by any strech, but i've been getting better, been focusing my practice with weapons like the python, SAR, and Thompson. other players tend to use the Meta guns. Berret, M249, AK, LR, bolt. been getting good. Once I start getting Hackusations I'll start playing the main game again.
Sounds like a good idea, the control on the m249 is too op with a 4x, just drag your mouse down a bit and you have a laser. I like the semi because its a similar idea and easy for snowballing, and easily one of the most powerful weapons in the game, I get what youre saying.
The bigger issue - which I discussed in a separate thread A tabu theme (and there were multiple discussions on the forums or even in official FP discord) is the presence of hackers.
hackers do not just ruin lives of those who they "hack off the server", but they also poison overall player-base mentality, because now everyone is accusing everyone else of hacking (because seeing a real hacker, reporting them and actually getting a confirmation that they are banned is not rare at all).
To speak from experience - I've played Eve Online MMORPG for about 10+ years. Its known to have a very toxic "community" and obviously came way before Rust days. On average, there are 25,000-30,000 people playing EVE daily...very close to current Rust numbers.
The cool thing is that I have not seen a single hacker in that game in my 10+ years of experience! And since because of that nobody can accuse anybody of hacking... well that puts a whole new meaning to the community. You can actually call out toxic players, and well, prove them wrong, teach them lessons or win arguments. Nobody can say "wow, how did you do that, you must be hacking!" - because that simply just does not happen there! Now, I've seen bots (like AFK gathering resources), but bots is a whole different issue, and much less harmful then hackers. Plus in a full PVP game, those bots usually don't last too long...
TLDR: Hackers don't just drive away players whose game experience they ruined directly (by hacking/killing them) - they also drive away community as a whole, indirectly - as they facilitate mental deterioration of said player-base by making everyone accuse everyone else of hacking, and spreading skepticism and distrust. That is exactly what the OP is experiencing.

Aham.
well. that's news to me, haven't practiced with it yet since it's something I don't see getting my hands on often. if ever. Guess it's just a case of OP combination.
EAC is bad tho :c
