Matt Campbell, aged 29, a professional chef from the Lake District, has died after collapsing in Sunday’s London Marathon.
The 29-year-old was running his first London marathon for the Brathay Trust, a charity that inspires vulnerable young people to make positive changes in their lives, yet was a keen and talented athlete who ran under three hours at the Manchester marathon earlier this month.

The charity he was running for, the Brathay Trust planned to raise 2,500 and (at time of writing ) has now raised 47,000+ in his honour.
Honestly can't imagine how anyone could run a marathon in the heat. I know it seems way worse than it actually is, 25C isn't hot by a lot of standards but its the hottest its been in months and people probably haven't had time to get used to it.
Remember to drink lots of water people. And drink it before you get thirsty. If you start getting dizzy or feel nauseous, take a break immediately.
If you can't remember the last time you drank water, you aren't drinking enough water.
the thing here is, he probably spent majority of his training in cold conditions. so running in heat put his system into overdrive.
where as the kenyans are fully adapted to 30+ heat.
Dehydration can kill you for sure.
well unless you lose like a quarter of your body water then yes but in this case I think it's only a portion of the reason. his body was in overdrive due to the heat, way more likely to be a combination of problems.
I'm always going to find it a bit sad how the best way to get money for a charity, is by dying whilst trying to raise money, I have no doubts he'd have gotten £2,500, but nowhere near £47,000+
