I didn't realize how lucky we are to be on a relatively low gravity world.
Made me think of the Elcor from Mass Effect.
So Civilisations on super earth's would probably need some incredible potent fuel source help then to get spaceborne or external help could other heavy lifting machines be used, like those orbital rings?
Or we could find a way to land and they'll worship us like space jesus
We are extremely lucky to be here of all possible places in the universe. Our sun isn’t a red dwarf, which means the habitable zone is far enough out that the Earth, which is luckily within the habitable zone, is not bathed in solar radiation and is not tidally locked with the sun. We have a magnetic field thanks to an active core and which helps block solar and cosmic radiation, as opposed to eg Mars, where you’d very likely develop cancer within only a few months of staying. We have a Jupiter that helps to keep asteroids away. The solar system is also in a very quiet part of the Milky Way, as opposed to the more-active parts of the arms or the centre of the galaxy. There are no nearby stars which are prone to going supernova soon, and no gamma-ray bursts within the Milky Way have been directed at Earth, let alone happened in the first place. And there are more factors which have escaped me for now.
There's always Project Orion.
Enough about aliens, are there even any plants out there?
First thing I thought about when I read "Super-Earth" (0:15):
https://youtu.be/v1C8EEGrOQg?t=15
Keep those damn aliens away, I don't want any of their "managed democracy" [sp]sarcasm intended[/sp]
Plant life on other worlds is still alien life at the end of the day.
We must strike them now then! While they are weak!
Well if aliens HAVE visited earth and the theories of them "stopping on a dime" and what not have any truth to them what so ever, maybe they needed to make anti gravity devices to get off their own planet in the first place. They probably had to skip the whole strapping yourself to a rocket stage.
Just need the planet express way of moving the universe around your ship.
Just want to point out that in order to even survive in high gravity, even the most physically fit human would have horrifying crippling issues
a mere fall from a ladder means broken bones
Yeah lets stay the fuck away from it honestly
they havent, that isnt possible.
You don’t need to leave your planet if you build giant rockets and turn your planet into the rocket.
we just need to all look like that deformed man from that "if the human body was built to survive car crashes".
But it isn't intelligent life, which is what most people really mean.
There have been some instances where we may have found extraterrestrial microbial life already, but we're not certain of their origins yet.
but can we go there and train martial arts
totally off topic but every time i see this pop up im inclined to believe they ripped off helljumpers (ODST) from halo
their outfits are even similar
They could use nuclear pulse rockets to get into space. I would also assume a thick large terrestrial planet has a thick large atmosphere so lift would be easier to achieve. Gravity in our solar system likes to hang out around 8 to 10 m/s^2 mark for most planets and even though say, neptune is 3.9x bigger than earth it still sits around that mark so flight amongst the atmosphere of these super earths would be definitely possible.
Look buddy, as long as its alien I can still fuck it.
Hindering for sure. But applying our logic to predict the behavior and mindset of other species that lives under other conditions may be inaccurate, even if it is the best way for now we have to imagine them.
I don't think it should be as difficult as we think. Any civilization developed and used to an environment with a strong gravity already has technology revolving gravity as a factor in their society.
No doubt that a strong gravity pull may slow down the evolution of any species thinking in trying their luck to get out of the ground and reach the escape velocity. But after all it is only matter of time until new techonoly and methods of propulsion overcomes that restraint.
A bit of off topic here to sum this up: bacterias were already found on Mars and rarely on asteroids falling here, we can call them aliens too. Our concept of alien applies to any form of life originally out of this planet. And as long as this concept remains valid, it doesn't have to be what we expect it to be.
If you listen closely its possible they were influenced by Starship Troopers, too.
Mass drivers of idiotic proportions I guess
