http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-43869911 The first category mentioned for targeting in the article is 'emotional stability.' This is scary shit.
The thing that makes it scarier is how little the average person understands the effects of advertising as it is, let alone shit with this much accuracy
Alright, Facebook, I'll agree to let you do this if you would let me have that data as well, for introspection. No? Well, fuck off.
We cyberpunk now. actually This shit combined with chinas survelliance we 1984 soon
Hope they manage to defend their patent well, that way targeted adds are at least contained to Facebook
Eh, I'm kind of surprised this didn't happen sooner. Btw I think it's worth clarifying, but "emotional stability" doesn't seem to mean that they're like, talking about mental illness. I only skimmed the patent but they seem to be trying to map you onto the big 5 personality traits model, with "neuroticism" often being called emotional stability. And it pretty much just means how susceptible you are to stresses and how reactive you are, and high neuroticism does have a higher tendency for mental illness, but they aren't necessarily ill or anything.
I wonder what facebook thinks of me.

Before you know it, your facebook will be sending prescriptions for things like anti-anxiety and anti-depressants to the pharmacy you use, and you won't have to do anything.
You are completely free to access the data that facebook has on you that they share with advertisers. If you're like me and don't really use the site ever you get some pretty funny results, though https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/249570/d32254d0-ee49-4cb2-95c3-e2396a907764/image.png Ah yes, [human interests], I can relate to these topics
Cant wait until black mirror is reality
Christ, I already get enough targeted ads. Whenever I stay up late I get ads for Zzzquil, when I bitch about my phone I get ads for new phones, when I post a short rant about Verizon on FB utilizing the word "fuck" effectively I get a suggested page for some poorly drawn comic about "accepting things I have no control over". Facebook is fucking creepy enough, man. I'm even getting suggested friends that I only know from Steam friends and have no mutual friends with. A guy I know on Steam from Bulgaria showed up one day out of nowhere. The last thing I want from Facebook is it gauging my mental stability for ads of all things.
as if it weren't in some places already
