If I didn't have some sort of obligation to stay on Facebook for the sole reason of contacting old acquaintances I would erase my account entirely.
God, no kidding. I don't use Facebook much as of late, so I've been getting spammed with redundant/filler notifications of random friends posting stuff (instead of the actually relevant notifications of people liking stuff you posted, replies, etc, since I don't use it anymore).
lmao facebook is always going to be garbage until the completely scrap all the filler shit and go back to basics
instagram is probably the best social media app right now because of its sheer simplicity and ease of use.

I have a facebook account, though I basically never use it. I begrudgingly intalled the facebook app to help find other pokemon go players for legendary raids, and it would keep giving me notifications about some group invite I had apparently been ignoring for years. It would just keep pestering me about it every few hours. Facebook groups are such an old feature that you can't actually dismiss group invites from the app, so after a few weeks of this, I finally logged in on my computer to get to to shut the hell up. Immediately after I dismissed this group invite, the app started spamming me with the same shit you described, blatantly ignoring my notification settings.
It's like the app is begging me to use it and won't take no for an answer.
Fuck facebook.
